Sooo…Does Fran get poached?

1. I believe Fran when he says he wants to be here. I think I will be more worried if we maintain this success over 4 or so years.

2. Rotating through coaches can be a good thing. Look at Cincinnati. Mark Dantonio to Brian Kelly to Butch Jones to Tommy Tuberville to Luke Fickell. 15 bowl games in 19 seasons. They finished ranked 8 times.

Even if Fran moves on if we make smart hired the success can be sustained
This is all Fran talked. Hold him to his word. he said ten years or so so im all good with that. Everyone enjoy the years. we are back

Or maybe a jump back to the NFL as OC.

His kid showed talent and has a year left. I'd be surprised if he left after the year we just had.

This is like seeing your significant other get their doctorate and being depressed about it; "welp she's obviously gonna leave me now".

Nope. I'm taking Fran at his word. He says he's committed to here for 10 years and I'll believe him until he proves otherwise.

Fran has seen how Jim Boeheim was able to build an empire here.

He sees it similarly and wants to do it on the football side.

We are a dream location for him and we play indoors.

Crowds like Saturday show him it’s possible. And now he’s winning the recruiting battles.

Fran will be here to stay as long as we want him

I don't think he's going anywhere in the short term, but I feel like a lot of posters are being naive and didn't learn their lesson from Doug Marrone. "OMG how could he ever leave he said all those nice things about SU!"

People also have to remember one thing. Fran likely received a 4-5 year contract to come here. Another school would have to pony up big time to buy him out at this point in his term. A big school could. But that would pad SU's pockets nicely to poach another coach. So we are in good shape as we sit today. As his contract term winds down, that's when he'd be more susceptible to getting bought out because it would be cheaper.

I think Frans heart wins over his eyes and head if someone were to dangle $ signs in his face.
Personally, I believe that FB will be fiercely dedicated to the uni that gave him his first hard coaching job.

That's SU's best chance. If a coach does good enough to get poached means SU had special seasons. Get the next one.

But Fran will get an extension before his contract starts winding down.

I think it says more about Cincinnati than anything else. Don't want to take anything away from their AD, which has done a wonderful job of hiring good coaches over a 20-plus year period but playing second fiddle to OSU in a state/region that produces a ton of talent helps. Especially since OSU recruits nationally. Cincy is the backup choice for in-state kids who can't get an offer from OSU.

In fairness….. this is more like dating a stripper and believing it when she says she went out with “the girls” after her shift ended, multiple times a week.

Although, strippers might tell the truth more than head coaches do when asked if they’re looking at other college jobs.

Also, I don’t believe Fran is leaving anytime soon. Soon being the next 3 years or so.

Do you hunt and eat squirrel?
I never did personally but I've known some Upstaters that did. Pretty common thing in the country. The point stands that Syracuse isn't any less squirrelly than Happy Valley.

Fran unlike Doug has had a plan all his life, and you can tell by how fast he put his crew together, and recruited that first year.
Doug was always going back to the NFL.
Fran wasn't going to take a job where he felt he couldn't win.
And remember he called John and sold his vision of what Syracuse could be.

Grew up on the East side of Cuse... Known plenty of meat hunters, mostly deer... some bear and some snowshoe hare. Also, a bunch of guys that do travel trips out west or up in Canada for Elk and Moose...

Never met anyone that hunts squirrel for meat except in PA, but to each his own.

I'm going to enjoy Fran every minute he's with us. I love that he's our coach. But if in two years, USC or Florida State or Oklahoma comes calling and offers him double the salary, I'm not going to be confused and faint. It's just how the universe works.
