Sophie Burrows in the portal

Very disappointing.
She was one of my favorite players on this year's roster.

A big loss dont get me wrong. But she did take a step back this year in terms of stats; shooting just 36% from the field is not great.

One thing of note: I dont think Izoje stays if there was no chance of fielding a competitive team.

Agree. Her shooting was pretty inconsistent really her whole career, except her sophomore year. But she did manage to make some key shots, like in the Iowa State game where she was 3-15 from the field, but the 2 three pointers she did make were huge. She also helped in other ways with really good defense and getting steals.

I suspect Potts is looking for more consistent playing time, rather than a monetary issue.

I think Cooper has the ability to be better than both. Potts was very inconsistent. You could actually say that about Sophie this year too. She would shoot lights out or go 1-10. Jack needs quicker and more athletic players. Sophie’s basketball IQ and tenaciousness were her biggest strengths. She should be a team’s role player, not one of their top players.

Yeah these next few months should be interesting to see how the portal works out because Uche Izoje needs better around her to really unlock the ceiling of this program with her and compete at a higher level. I mean Uche Izoje is probably a top 15 player in all of women’s college basketball and honestly I could be underrating her. The question is whether they have the funds to build a better team around her which would be exciting if they do, but certainly unexpected.

She will be missed, but I always thought she was a little slow footed on D, but i do not see her going to a program higher ranked than SU unless its a depth piece coming off the bench. Hopefully, some better moves are being lined up behind the curtain
