SRS SU 43rd , JMU 41

I think it worked out for the best for all involved. Chesney inherited an 11 win team at the G5 level and that's a much lower lift than inheriting a 6 win P-4 team. We needed someone with Fran's recruiting clout to get the roster turned over quickly and that wasn't happening with Chesney.

Maybe. I’m happy with Fran. But Chesney is a hell of a football coach.

Chesney is going to end up at a Florida or FSU type program next. He may be the next Urban Meyer type. I would suspect he's going to move on in a few years to his final tier destination school. If Fran jumps to a higher program i hope Wildhack left him with a good feel for SU

It's more that he didn't leave a good feeling with us during the process. I could see him doing well at a school that recruits itself though -- he's a great X's and O's coach. JMU has a lot of instate talent to recruit so I suspect he will do better there than he would have at SU.

He got talent at Holy Cross. I’m not sure the narrative of “Chesney isn’t a recruiter” is true.

He might not be on level of Fran, but I do think he would have done well here too.

yea, I have no clue what reality is with the recruiting. He was highly recommended by others for the job.

I just know he didn't have a plan for recruiting at Syracuse during the interview process, just a "We'll figure that out when we get there." Fran had a very clear plan and identified talent. And he's done exactly what he said he would.

Of course, Chesney has already built a program so that approach is probably fine in other interviews, it just wasn't what we needed right now. I'm glad to see he's doing well too as everyone speaks very highly of him.

Without the felons?

Holy Cross certainly misses Chesney. Fran is doing fine and I think Chesney would have too.

HC won the Patriot League again. So not sure you are right.

He recruited a ton of talent there. HC has more WRs in the NFL than Syracuse does. Pretty pathetic stat (Coker and Raymond)

This year? No they didn't - Lehigh controls that league if they beat Lafayette this week.
