State plans $20 million for Carrier Dome renovations

Back in the day when there was discussion about possibly hosting the womens final four, a major disqualifier was not having a room/building for the media. The womens FF has probably outgrown a city the size of Syracuse, but that building could have potentially provided that space

Hopefully this will help SU get the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight again.

the finals game had 18K this year.. so seating is not an issue..
NCAA women's hoops wanted to keep their final four in NBA size areas so there was a good demand for tickets vs. number of seats available and so they didn't play in football stadiums with thousands of empty seats.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the future when men's and women's final fours are in the same city at the same time. Will both be played in the same large stadium or will the women's final four be played at a NBA size area close by?

Was in an alumni meeting tonight with the athletic department. It was mentioned that the new seats will help get NCAA tournament games again. Did not say which rounds would be bid on. Also expect more stadium concerts in the future with the new space connecting the Barnes Center to be helpful here.
