Step back from the ledge...

I think our offense could be exciting one. We need a few more playmakers on the outside and either Hunt to get better throwing the ball or a QB that can really spin it. In saying that I like the way the offense is working it is on the trend that is working now. I also questions the OC who is installing that system if he truly has a feel for the game and can call plays the correct way.

It seems to me that it is far easier to have a feel for the game when the players can actually execute the plays as opposed to the D stopping them. If the players screw up a play how does an OC know if the damn thing would have worked if properly executed or not?

When a play doesn't work fans go apeshit without trying to figure out if it was the play call or the execution. And please don't give me that crap about only running plays we can execute because we only install plays that work in practice. Plays that don't work in games get weeded out as the season advances.

As time goes on and players get better and more suited to our offense everything gets easier. Banging around back and forth with new schemes is nonsense an a self-defeating proposition.

I guess it was a miracle after all then.

Nah, just a remarkable confluence of circumstances that led to an unbelievable 7 wins against 1-A teams.

We almost cracked the top 50 in scoring that year!

The offense will put it all together and I pity the team that is on the receiving of that , maybe Louisville will be the unfortunate team to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Why don't you pick a lane.

I thought it was all about yards. They were 17th in total yards that year, which I thought was the holy grail.

Now two years later it's they didn't score enough. That's weak, even for you .

"there's a reason i focus more on yards than all the other crap you overlay to obscure what's happening'

So much brilliance in this thread.

You and the two Otto's just knocking it out of the park.

That was sort of my question in chat today...

System versus players... Do you try and mold players to fit your system or do you try and adjust your system around the players you have...My opinion is that I want the system first. Give me a system that succeeds and teach that. Don't adjust your system run your system and if the players can't run it try different players. A system can last for a long time where as players come and go.

My question on top of that is McDonald feels Hunt can't run his system properly what should he do? What would you do? Go the next two years with Hunt and try and win some games or see what the younger guys have?

Marrone was dumb about punting. That contributed to it. You pin lack of scoring on it McDonald but you don't pin it on Marrone. I'm fine with pinning it on both because I think they're both dopes

You're just frustrated because what I've been saying for so long makes a lot of sense.

Why would I be frustrated, I not the one who was consistently wrong for years.

Go is such a Doug homer

He hates this staff ... And he doesn't hide it

He also likes to belittle a lot of posters on this site ...

Nice job not addressing the post.

Why pin anything on Marrone, all he did was improve scoring every year.

When Marrone took over he took over a program that had scored less than 20 points 68% of the time in the 47 games the four years prior.

Consecutive rankings of 114th, 102, 116, 108.

In his first year they were held to less than 20 pts, 42% of the time, by 2012, 23%. Not one shut out in 4 years. Last two seasons not once held to single digits.

At the same time SU doubled the % of games scoring 30 or more. In 2012 there were as many games scoring more than 30 pts, 7 in 13, as Robinson had in 47.

In 2012 they scored 20 or more points 77% of the time vs 32%, and at 30 or more 54% vs 15%, under Robinson.

Kind of tough to kill a guy for doing his job, which was to build the program.

They scored way less than you'd expect given their yards . Just like this year.

I don't hate this staff.

Yep, this is a post from someone who hates this staff.

http://syracusefan.com/threads/this-better-get-fixed-and-coaching-is-a-huge-part.80789/

"I haven't turned on anyone. I like how they are moving the ball. It's a great sign. Much better than last year, and I've said that repeatedly.

I think Hunt is capable of a lot more than most. I like that the passing game has been tweaked the last two weeks. I didn't think they had a chance against ND, and I certainty didn't kill them for it. I think the ingredients are in place to have an 8 win team still, if they can pull it together.

That doesn't mean it's all roses and sunshine. The fact they can't extend drives on offense and get off the field on defense is a huge issue. And the weakness on each side feeds and amplifies the weakness on the other.

They fix this one thing, and it's a matter of 4 or 5 plays a game on each side, this can be a very good team."

Here's a real harsh take down. http://syracusefan.com/threads/last-night-and-going-forward.80620/

A hate filled diatribe that is.

You'll not find one post on here saying any of the staff sucks, is horrible, a meathead, should be fired, clueless, idiot, dumber than a bag of hammers.

You won't find any post of me saying _(fill in the blank)______ has lost me.
