...find a way to play two teams that are as good as WVU and TCU. I have never known a team to improve playing against less good teams...take a note from MCW our 4th guard paraphrasing the following: Rather practice against the Team than playing with easier competition...I learn more and ready to go...
I have never thought that a weak schedule is the means to good teams...and more importantly, WVU and TCU are good teams...so lets schedule good teams to take their place..and where better than ACC teams like FSU...we might get our asses kicked...but it will tell us how much better we need to be...and may even help with recruitment in the South...not saying the date FSU has open and 'Cuse doesnt mean we change the USC game...but maybe we have open dates that this works...if not than find another good team to play...I would rather test ourselves against a good team than play a NY State School...fodder for what...to say we won...

I'm glad you're not making our schedule. It's more then tough enough coming off a losing season where we lost our biggest play makers on both sides of the ball.

I respectfully disagree with this line of thinking. We will certainly know "how much better we need to be" after the run through NW, USC and Minny. I don't think we need to get our asses kicked further by big name programs in order to test the team or as a means of "improving." That migth be the case if we were a top 25 program. The realty is, we are not.

If anything, attempting to run a gauntlet of major BCS teams, especially given the state of the program currently, will do far more harm to psyche of the kids and the national perception of the program.

What matters next year is wins...and getting to a bowl. Schedule only with that in mind.

I disagree also. Will be plenty of "learning experiences" next year. Need some FCS wins.

Wins vs cupcakes count!

Beating up on cupcakes and going to 2nd and 3rd tier bowls got Greg Schiano an NFL job. VT did it for decades and it has built up their program over time to the elite program that it is today.

3 cupcakes in the Dome is not smart.

Why? It's not like they are given wins. You can make a case SU should have lost to Akron last year. They struggled vs Rhode Island for 3 quarters. It's not like SU is blowing these teams out.

3 cupcakes is short-term PAIN for long-term GAIN! The attendance issue is bad. It's not going to be fixed by scheduling 2 cupcakes and 1 decent team. That doesn't fix that issue.

My reasoning is that we already had WVU and TCU scheduled...neither are a cupcake...so why not keep good competition coming in...I for one do not find favor beating or potentially losing to lower level teams...if we get our ass kicked so be it...but going to a 3rd tier bowl cannot be what this is about...I agree with Bees that 3 cupcakes in Dome dont do it for me either!
