Sterlin Gilbert

That is where I have problems with Tommy, he hasn't shown the ability to look at the defense and adjust the play.
Great QB's have a feel for the game and adjust on the fly.
You can have all the physical ability, and if you don't have the mental awareness, you won't be a good QB.

And I think this is where some posters tend to give him a pass and blame everything on the Oline. The Oline was absolutely terrible. A good QB will still shine even when the offense is getting mauled. They make quick decisions, they get rid of the ball, make adjustments. Sometimes when the Oline is so bad the QB does those things and still nothing works but the point is, the QB has the ability to do those things. I don’t think we saw that. The Oline was atrocious but there’s a ton of blame that can be passed around and TD was a large part of it.

I'm hopeful that the light goes on for Tommy. I'm doubtful as it's like a sense of direction. You either have it or you don't.

I think some of that is true; some guys just have “zip” on the ball you can’t practice and others have incredible accuracy other guys will just never have.

But I also believe you can practice specifically for the things you want to improve and get better at them with significant repetition.

I don’t think the play calling did him any favors or the rest of the offense on the field. But I think if he’s spent the off season working on specific things that hurt him last year he could have a great season. You have limited hours to improve your skills, fundamentals, etc. Did he use any of the new technologies/programs to improve his ability to see the field? If he did that everyday as part of his routine it could make a big difference.

I also think we forget that not only did the team get ravaged with injuries last year but playing an all acc schedule with only liberty as ooc. Is just not what this program can handle yet. There needs to be some warm up games for players to get a feel. Last years team with this years schedule I think gets to 3 wins. So I think we all expect to see an improved team for many different reasons. I think 5 wins is a reasonable expectation and I’m set my expectations on 6 and a bowl. Staying positive!

Lol
Yeah, it's right up there with the belief that the RBs are calling out the blocking assignments for the OL.

On a more serious note, I think we will know a lot about Schmidt's impact and the development of the OL based on the effectiveness of the inside power running game vs Ohio. I expect (hope?) to see a big difference.

lol. people are frustrated with losing and they look to blame anything that looks wrong or dont understand. I can't blame them. Just have to joke about it sometimes.

Yes. I think you are right. Schmidt's impact should be noticeable in that first game.
