Steve Angeli: Torn Achilles

So, Bill - are you going to answer me? Or did you just google this and trust that AI is telling you the truth?

If there is a source, I would love to see it and believe.
Blessed are they who believe and haven't seen.

Off the subject but on ESPN site Connolly ranked all 68 P4 assumed starters for next season. He had Steve at number 32 but was very complimentary of him, it was clear he would have ranked him higher if he had more games under his belt and if his injury wasn’t as major.

Just trying to find out if it's from a real journalist, or just AI slop.
I've been quoted as a source multiple times in my own AI searches. Apparently, if you post often enough here, ChatGPT and Google AI think you've become an expert.

On that note, it actually wouldn't surprise me if my post from a few months ago after watching two seconds of video of Angeli throwing was being used as a source.

"recovering ahead of schedule" is both a common phrase and an exact quote of what I said in my post. Possibly it's coincidental...

was listening to a story on Achillis injuries on a betting show yesterday. They mentioned that in the NBA guys used to come back in about 9 months from this back 10+ yrs ago. Now the majority take 15-18 months. one theory was money is playing a huge role now.

Pretty fair list but i think Angeli may end up at about #4 or #5 on that list at seasons end.

One thing that may hurt him though is i'm not sold on if we have a good 3rd down back or how our RB's will be catching balls out of the backfield. That seems pretty important in our offense and obviously for Angeli's production.

JJ Johnson could be a option as a 3rd down back

I'm sure he's an option. He hasn't produced well in college yet. But he has been moved from Defense to RB to QB and back to RB though when they had some depth issues. But when he's been on the field, his per carry average and yds per reception average are both pretty low. I'm just not sold on how good he'll be.

Ju'Juan Johnson 2025 Stats per Game - NCAAF - ESPN

I actually think a guy like Outten might be good there if given a shot.

If you consider The Daily Orange a sincere journalistic endeavor, then yes, Steve is on his way back. More from the DO:
Syracuse quarterback Steve Angeli is progressing well and is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn left Achilles tendon sustained on September 20, 2025.

As of late November 2025, Angeli reported he was two weeks ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation. Key details regarding his status include:
Syracuse.com

  • Rehab Progress: He is off crutches, was previously in a walking boot, and is focused on rebuilding calf muscle strength.
  • Throwing/Sideline Activity: Angeli indicated in late November that his recovery puts him on track to "throw and do stuff like that" during Syracuse's spring practices.
  • Return Timeline: Head coach Fran Brown and Angeli are aiming for him to participate in spring ball 2026, with hopes he will be ready to compete for the starting job by then.
  • 2026 Status: Angeli has confirmed his plan to return to Syracuse for the 2026 season.

He is expected to have two years of eligibility remaining, as he is applying for a medical redshirt for the 2025 season.

I think Fran is fronting on wr
It's a low bar production wise. Some new faces will certainly have more yardage than last years crew so he will technically be right. Last years crew would have also outproduced last years yardage as well though if they maintained starting roles.

Will be curious to see the Ole Miss depth chart and production given the 8667 new players they added.

This is 100% AI generated, lol!

Stuff from November is irrelevant at this point. He could be farther ahead, he could have had a set back. Rehab isn't necessarily linear.

Citing what a player and coach said in the fall about a return timeline is also irrelevant. They all say stuff like that. I think we recall how Fran said the competition between Collins and Angeli was close. Big grains of salt with anything said.

You stated what we all want as if it was inside info. Reality is that the earliest we'll know any update is spring ball, and even then we may not know much.

I can tell you that Ive seen the QB from Georgetown throw the ball in spring practice and its really really pretty.
