Steve Angeli: Torn Achilles

How much eligibility does he have left ? He can get a medical redshirt for this year, right? So we have him For two more years?

Why would it get denied? Early season ending injuries get waivers seemingly all the time these days. Hell, it's likely they approved a waiver for Ohio State recklessly burning Kyle's redshirt for no reason.
People are regurgitating the 30% rule. No one is certain.

The cutoff for a medical redshirt is usually 30% of the season, and from what I’ve seen Steve is sitting at around 32%. That puts him just over the limit, which makes it tough. The injury timing matters too, since it has to be before the second half of the season. I hope he gets the waiver, but I’m not banking on it.

Yeah, it's become definitely more vague... but it seems the last few years the trend is to approve them (if for no other reason to avoid someone suing).

Once again...

30% of 12 games = 3.6 games, rounded up to 4.

This is Angeli's 4th game.

It's no different than any other player who plays in 4 games and redshirts.

The issue is that Angeli already redshirted once back in 2022.

He needs to apply for a hardship waiver to be granted a 6th year of eligibility in order to take 2025 as a second redshirt year. The fact that he only played 4 games and his injury occurred in the first half of the season works in his favor.

Its not 30% of games any more in fball its just 4. Same for now it doesn't matter when the games are played like it used to be.

Ok time will tell

Idk when I tore mine, I wouldn’t say my toes hung limp. I walked to the car and walked into the ER unassisted. I just felt unstable.
In my case there was no pain, just numbness and couldn't put any weight on it. Took about 15 minutes to shuffle 20 yards to the ER.
A full year from cast to rehab and I started feeling "normal" again. The mental aspect was the hardest part- just knowing I could go full tilt w/out worry. Needless to say, my HOF NBA prospects were shot. 😉

He is currently four yards away from leading the country in passing even with the missed fourth quarter. We're going to be happy with the one more year from him we know he has. Two years would be amazing. The way things are trending in college sports I would be very surprised if, over a year from now, a waiver is denied.

Spot on.

Let’s hope Collins can continue to grow… I mean he’s flashed clear potential with some of his runs & 2 red zone td passes. Just needs to put it together, he looks very hesitant to throw and has a hitch on a lot of his attempts. But angeli faced a very similar problem first 2 games. Go orange!
