Still optimistic

Fran will learn from this just like he learned from our 10 win season.
Some of you just wanted to fire coaches left and right.
Fran did not give up and he hates losing.
We will be MUCH better going forward.
I'm sure he will look at EVERYTHING this team is doing and how the staff is.
He will make the tough choices and do what is right for the S.
I want to believe, but I haven't seen any evidence of learning going on with the coaching staff.

We have way too many issues to fix in one season.

We need to find a decent DC who has both P4 experience and most importantly experience coaching up middling talent. The best DC in the SEC can come here and it won't work because they won't know how to use the talent they will have to work with. But even if we do hire the right guy, it will take time for the team to learn the new system.

Speaking of talent we have none on D. We need an entire front 7 IMO. AD seems good so maybe a front 6. WTH happened to Tremble? He was a big factor when he first moved to D and was completely invisible the 2nd half of the season. Anyway it is going to take at least 2 years to fix the overall D talent issue.

Since the D will be below average we need the O to carry the team. IMO the only way we get to a Bowl is if we retain Nixon. A new OC and system will take time to learn. We cannot afford that with what we have on D.

We are losing two big pieces on our OL. And what of the coach?

The team is a big mess right now. Both talent and coaching. It will not be fixed in one year. I think best case 7-5 and we can look forward to year 4.

this “the best coach wouldn’t be able to work this talent” is a cop out because a good coach wouldn’t have this awful talent. This was missed talent evaluation at nearly all levels. A good coach would never be so bad at evaluating and thus would never be in this position in the first place.

Last time I checked whomever is the next DC can not go back in time to recruit last years HS class nor this year's. Or last year's portal. We have too many holes to fill via the portal this year.

That all said we are SU. We will have a talent disparity on D even with a good talent evaluator. If we have a DC coaching our talent like they are SEC defenders (kinda like ERob has), it will NOT work.
