SU has issues. But so many other teams are as well

Wash missed 2 more fgs and won

Neb had 2 punts blocked at won

I’m that mom who says I don’t care what your friends do.

Hopefully we’re hearing tomorrow that Vallano has been relieved of his duties.
Agreed the kick protection has been abysmal , probably the worst I have ever seen

Frans comment around the ST coordinator yesterday:

“Asked about his confidence in special teams coordinator James Vollono to fix the issues, Brown defended him.

“My confidence level is extremely high,” Brown said. “It should be the confidence level in me. Vollono does a great job.” “

I know he’s trying to protect his friend but eyes don’t lie, Vollono is clueless.

Fran also alluded he wasn’t going to embarrass him because he respects him and that he has a wife and kids. Understandable where Fran is coming from. The ST problem will be fixed.

He shouldn’t be getting a pay check if he can’t perform. That money can go to someone who adds value. You lose your right to be protected from embarrassment when you pocket mid six figures

Look, none of us know whether Vollono is coaching up the right techniques and the players aren’t executing or vice versa. But what you want to see out of a coaching staff after mistakes is for things to get better and eventually right. Things seem to be getting worse which is troubling. I’m not going to pretend I know what the answer is but I want to see changes whether it be in personnel, formation or coaching staff.

Fran Brown takes responsibility for the team. I am confident that STs will have a bit of extra work this week and few mistakes will be repeated. Brown already sat a kicker who wasn't up to the task and I am sure the kicker is working extra with extra coaching to address his issues. I expect we will see improvement on the punt blocking soon.

At this point, whether Fran keeps the coach on for whatever reason or fires him, they have no more runway.

You have to be able to block for a punt. You have to be able to have kickoffs in bounds. Make easy FGs.

Not asking for coffin corners and reverses on kick returns or 50 yard FGs.

No more excuses or taking ownership. Results have to be there.

Yeah, don't get punts/field goals blocked and don't shank kickoffs oob seem like reasonable expectations.

I hope this gets taken care of. With decent special teams, our wins would have been much more convincing. We actually dominated in games that looked close because out special teams were so horrible.
