Students No Show

I believe if I’m not mistaken before or early in the season they sent out a survey to all the students who had season tickets and asked if they would be willing to “give back” their tickets for that game if they weren’t going to be in town.

That would make sense then. And maybe they received a bunch of responses. Had to be back around game 2 when I noticed it. Just about the entire student section was available (and not resale either). I checked the UConn game to make sure I wasn't crazy, it was the same.

Probably could consider something if they were selling out the seats that are available. Why take away student seating that is bought and paid for if there is not a high level of confidence that you can resell those seats at a higher price point?
air lines over book dont they? They just have to have a plan for when capacity is reached

I think since there is no set ticket seat applied and they pretty much know 75% or more will be empty do that have reason to take that swing.

I also doubt demand would be there unless they went to some crazy pricing scheme.

They are not allowed to oversell the seats.

The fire code is per section if I remember correctly

Also, it’s not as easy to say they can get free drinks at the next game later that day.

Fran getting to see first hand how hard it is to generate interest in central New York. Team deserved better

Not sure what you can do when a student has season tickets but doesn’t show. You can’t sell his/her ticket. Heck, that’s the same as any casual fan. If they don’t show, it’s an empty seat.
Maybe you sell less season tickets to students and give them a week to request the following weeks game. And then open them up to the general public for cheap. Not sure.
Those upper lever student tix are general seating, right? So just sell a “safe” number of additional general seating tix.

I was there at my alma mater Syracuse this weekend to enjoy homecoming and the VT game. The dome is shaping into an even more beautiful and enjoyable venue - especially for our 'CUSE! Still had the bathroom trough in the men's room but they will be gone by the end of the BBall season.
Had concerns but never wavered in the "new and improved" CUSE! Glad I was rewarded in my faith in the new staff but more importantly, in their philososphy of excellence as an expectation and it's execution as it's goal.
In Babers, I would have left at halftime and not bothered to endure the morning rains and cold. But Fran has brought a new dawn to Syracuse Football.
Feeling psyched to know that SU sports have top of the line coaches in men and women BBall and laccrosse, -Ball, soccer and track....time for SU to resume its loathy place in college sports that will match its academic excellence!

Definitely a bummer to see those that were booted from their original seats to head to others, I was shoved down a bit in my old seats, but the guy that took mine, is sorta a cool dude, so I'll accept that LOL

Talk to the students. I am all for it. I just think it’s a logistical nightmare. If a student put their season in their e-wallet, they have it. Can you really prevent two people from showing up for the same seat (student and the re-sale)? Do you force both games to be sold? Better likelihood they want to go to Miami than UConn. They may not want to sell both. What if they want to resell their ticket at their own profit (which I don’t think they can do now)?

Two people showing up with the same ticket isn’t an issue. I’ve put tickets in my e-wallet, then transferred (or sold) to others when I couldn’t go NJ Devils games - I don’t remember if they just disappeared from my wallet or had some notification on the ticket that it was unavailable. Either way, Ticketmaster already has this covered. I don’t think either requiring a student to sell both back or either one is that big a deal either.

The significant issues are needing to impose a time limit - you don’t want a student selling back a ticket 20 minutes before kickoff, the fact that it requires enough effort to sell or transfer tickets a lot of kids won’t bother, AND there’s gotta be some incentive Syracuse offers students that they think they can make back on the other end. I don’t think any of the challenges are insurmountable except the last one - that one alone is probably fatal to a reselling scheme with the university as the middleman. (I suspect that another issue would be Ticketmaster wouldn’t get enough revenue to work with the university on something like this either, but that’s me speculating with no actual information or relevant knowledge).

Since all the tickets are basically on TM now for the last 2 games I guess there is no issue there.

He’s okay I guess

If they open up my old seats for some crazy reason I’ll give yours back to ya!

wait is that true? I thought it was just chatter. Friend went to Ohio St vs Nebraska and first thing he said was "I missed the troughs, spent half the game in line for the bathroom".

Coming off a near world record for pick sixes... not the best timing bro. This town will support this team when they stop laying eggs on a big stage.
