So I just found out that I have to go to a wedding on October 18th - the day of the Wake Forest game. A small wedding that was just set in a friends home.

How can these people not look at the football schedule before setting this date? I've waited 9 months to watch this team and I don't want to miss seeing any games, even if it's only Wake. I know I could DVR it, but that will be useless since people will be talking about the game.

Some people really need to get their priorities straight!

LOL. That's nothing... I HAVE TO go to one the night of FSU.

I've been married for a number of years. before I got married I told my wife that I don't go to birthdays, marriages, funerals, or anything that conflicts with an SU football or basketball game.

Been true for a few decades...haven't missed a live game. I'll admit that I did fall asleep in the 3rd quarter of one of GRob's fiascoes against Pitt.

I know, I'm a jerk.

I shouldn't talk too much, since my own wedding was opposite a home game. But we timed it so the reception would start well after the game ended, allowing ticket holders to skip the ceremony and still party with us (a win-win for many). And since SU destroyed Pitt by about 50 points that day, it led to a good vibe at the reception (except for one Pitt alum co-worker).

Not married but the two main things I've learned over the years:

1. Open bar, plan everything else around this
2. Not during football Saturdays

I get to miss the Louisville game because of a wedding... argghh.

I've heard a story that Jim Boeheim went missing at his own wedding. Not sure if it was the first or second wedding. In any case, it was held in a house (again, not sure if it was his own house or somebody else's). Nobody could find him for a while until they found in one of the bedrooms watching a Mets game on TV.

I'm missing the Louisville game to atone for my many sins. Beat that.

But I have a DVR so I'm covered. And to be honest, since the baby arrived, I watch all SU sports via DVR.

I missed the Clemson game last year because of a wedding. My nephew just got engaged last week. I'm pretty sure he has the good sense not to have it during football season. His fiancée' is a Purdue alum, so I'm not sure if she has the same issues during football season.

Well I'm getting married on October 18 (at least made sure it wasn't a big game) and made sure the small reception was a place with TVs at the bar!

My friend got married during the Pitt game last year, and my phone died on me.

I think you should get your priorities straight.

Marsh and I have chimed in similarly on this topic everytime it rears it's ugly matrimonial head. If you have a good woman, she knows she has a HUUUUUGE window from April 10 through August 28th to have a wedding. That's FOUR AND A HALF MONTHS!

There are no excuses to have a wedding any other time. None. It puts your guests in a terrible position, not to mention I can walk into every wedding and flip a coin as to whether the couple will be married in 10 years. As the saying goes "happy husband, happy life"

The golden rule of No Fall Saturday Weddings is shamefully ignored and violated time and again. This season, I have weddings the days of both Maryland and FSU. The grooms are weak, submissive, soulless, sad sacks.

I refuse to miss home games for anything. Away games are tougher to convince the family that I should get to skip family events. I made reservations at a hotel for Oct 25 for my wife's bday, I hope Clemson is a 12:30 start.

I got so lucky this year. 3 weddings in 5 weeks. One on a bye (last week), the Saturday of the Louisville game (Friday night...clutch) and the Friday of FSU game. Hopefully I should be done attending weddings for a few years after this...
