SU Athletic Director Candidates

Seems like she was parachuted in by the Chancellor and not AD. Seems crazy see would be hired considering all the negative issues she had at Pitt. Surely cooler heads will prevail and they'll hire someone else.
Yep and considering both a new Chancellor and new AD are coming in, hopefully not only does she not get the AD gig, hopefully they get rid of her

Do you have references for the above? I'm not sure the "fired for cause" and, most especially, the "being sued for gross financial malfeasance" is factual.

And FWIW, she is not "rumored to be named" in the Title IX suit, she was already named as a defendant in the court filing from early March.

Fair enough - I removed the lawsuit part... I believe I read that in the "Wildhack retiring" thread, but can't confirm if the malfeasance lawsuit is actually factual.

However, the crux of all these issues was recently disclosed in this Pittsburgh Post Gazette article about Greene, Pitt's new AD, and the challenges he's facing in cleaning up the mess Lyke left.

Yup. Lyke's emphatic stance on NIL and "comprehensive excellence" for all athletics regardless of revenue generation or funding was universally well know. This was not Pitt's dirty little secret. Everybody in the AD world and in the ACC knew what she was championing.

You don't hire someone like that without full knowledge of where she stands. Which leaves me to believe that Lyke was brought in because her model is one of the options SU is considering under due diligence. I do not think this is a done deal yet. But, if she is the choice...

I am hoping that she will follow Kent to Michigan. I could see it happening.

Yup. She is specifically named as meeting with one of the players for an hour and a half, and then allegedly never launching an investigation. Suspect that will be a lingering issue for a while given it’s a federal case and if it’s not dismissed will lead to discovery etc.
You have done your homework.

Keep pushing.

Imagine telling the Michigan fans that they're going to spread the football and basketball revenue around to all sports and are implementing a low-NIL approach in revenue sports and re-allocating focus to facilities donations instead, so funds can be used elsewhere.

She'd be lynched.

Ok, they however have alot more money...

Article in Post Standard talks about all the numerous challenges facing a college like SU, including both next chancellor and AD. Sports has a section.

Worth a read, especially parts about demographics. Shows how crucial it is to get this hire right.

That's an eye-opening read. Sounds like the university will be getting a lot smaller very soon. I have to wonder if having 20 varsity athletic programs even makes sense, never mind an AD who values them all equally. The priorities should be football and hoops. That's our identity. That's where the money is.

You have to have at least 16 athletic programs.

Sounds like big time sports will be over at SU if she’s the choice.

Eliminating 4 won't be enough. We'll need money from somewhere else. The article mentioned "finding a way to incorporate outside investors." That made me think of private equity, I don't know why.

Maybe the modern AD role has become bigger than any one person. We really need one person for external dealmaking, one to do internal politicking for resources and one to actually run athletic operations. Those are 3 different skillsets.

I see now all the existential questions that insiders are talking about in the selection.

I looked into it last fall and I think it’s 16 for all the power 4 conferences. At least for the ACC.
If She ends up as AD, you can close the Dome, her attitude about the place of Athletics will turn all the locals off forever.
Shaw almost did and they finally came back next time they won't ever come back.
She should be sent packing with the Chancellor when he leaves.
