SU turned down TJ Neal? Morris visits in December..

The difference between a three star and a two seems to be minimal. Max B was a three star and Jay Bromley was unrated. Why? Beaulieu played in a big time state and a well known school. I agree though it is better to bring in 4 or 5 star guys than 2 or 3 star guys but dont put to much emphasis on getting 3 stars over 2. Most of the time the two star guys have not attended camps or dont play in football hotbeds. I trust a staff with guys like Adkins, Wheatley, and Shafer to evaluate talent more than guys from a recruiting service

I do agree to some extent...I guess the performence on the field this year is clouding my judgment a bit.

give me a break - I hope this is sarcasm
I agree this song has been sung before... I remember hearing we were grabbing a very high profile LB recruit once up till signing day only to see he had in fact signed with FSU... Forget his name... Just don't see us grabbing both those kids. 1 would be amazing. My vote if I had one would be for Jones. Local kid at a position of need, huge coup to flip him. Don't see it happening though

I'd be totally fine giving him Whitehurst's spot-The guy's been looking around since he "committed"
He's been solid since he started "looking around". Not going to fault the kid because he wanted to take some free trips around the country. Not sure why everyone on the board hates the kid so much.

I will give fizz benefit of doubt. HOPEFULLY TW relationship with Perkins is that strong.

Why on earth would this kid turn down chances to look around? 18 years old and he gets 5 trips, he'd be foolish not to take them.

Agreed. I do not think ultimately anyone de-commits

Anyone have idea if/who of PSU commits we might be talking to? JP Holtz?

Wow. Neal w/ Nebraska offers gets turned down over Parsons w/ ?? offers... A head shaker fore sure.

Follow BK's articles on catching up with the commits. Parson averages something obsurd like 15 tackles per game. Givin our lack of ability in that department I'd say that makes him a desireable commit. Kid also was their starting RB at least last week so he's versatile as well.

I have a feeling that there is going to be one kid in this class that ends up being top-5 at this position nation-wide by his Junior year.

Haven't you followed this though? Marrone recruits have to be top 5 at their position as freshman

Things are sounding positive. It is important that SU hit on a couple of these last slots. HCDM may have a plan, but I hope part of that plan is to adjust his recruiting style as the team and the recruiting become more successful. I fully support identifying and offering kids early. But as SU becomes more of a player with the higher rated recruits we will need to offer fewer kids early. I do not however want Marrone to begin going back on his offers just because a "prettier girl comes along." I'm not sure if there is much gray area where you offer a kid but don't accept his committment. We all need to realize and accept that Marrone is still learning this aspect of his job. That's not to say he isn't a great talent evaluator but the program is obviously not to the point yet of being a selector school. If we lose out on a TJ Neal and don't get another player as highly rated or better and end up only with the lesser rated players we already have committed, so be it. It's a learning lesson. It's important to realize also that while Neal is really high on SU... he also loved his visit to Nebraska, and also has offers from Auburn, Florida, Illinois, NC State, Pitt, Tennessee, T Tech, USC and WVU. We likely wouldn't have gotten him even if we were one of his 5 visits. Marrone may also believe it was unlikely. But maybe next year he holds a few more offers back knowing that kids like this might be more possible. Sure would be nice though to get another in at McKeesport also. The star system matters and is relavant. It's a tool, not THE tool.

We were in the top 3 with WVU and Nebraska. We were rumored to be his favorite as he wanted to stay up north from what I heard.

Plus, he is a fine furniture enthusiast, there was no way he was going to subject himself to that sort of emotional pounding in Morgantown.
