Summer Sessions 2025

After watching TBT it just reinforces more than anything to me this needs to come down to putting 5 guys on the court who can play together on offense yet more importantly are committed and locked in to playing good defense. Offensive figures and capabilities are fun but it’s gotta be all about getting stops and rebounding and then finding the right balance on offense.

Getting a true 1 and then defensive minded bigs is important but all the talk etc on the offensive options is fun but it’s all moot if we are purely against relying on being harder to defend as the primary source of optimism.
Nothing irks me more than seeing the bigs hang on the perimeters and keep hoisting and missing threes. And then being outhustled on the other end and give up second-effort easy baskets. It's not going to work in The TBT, and its not going to work in the ACC.

That’s right next to a guard overplaying and getting beat without funneling to a help defender or not moving his feet to cut off just a basic drive. Both cases are maddening…

Im feeling this year we won't be soft
I hope so because we've been soft for the better part of a decade now...

I have heard very good things about him

With this program right now it’s dangerous to expect good things but based on all of what we’ve seen and heard publicly this kid checks nearly every box you want for a high impact transfer. Good size and strength, excellent shooter, solid handle, good athlete, good motor and appears to be a solid defender with a willingness to mix it up and most importantly all signs point to him having plenty of room to grow and improve even as an upperclassman.

We just have to stay realistic that a 180 in the program may not come as quick as we hope. Gonna still be some bumps.

I just want to say again that UNC made the tournament last year going 1-10 against Quad 1 teams. I know we want to get back to running with top 10 programs but it’s not necessarily a must do.

It’s not being defeatist to say we don’t be a #1 or 2 or even 4 seed in the tourney. And as far as I’m concerned there’s very little difference between a 5-12 seed. Just stack up the wins, steal a few good ones and punch a ticket. Hope to do some damage in the tourney.

Even just from looking at what he did last year, he could be their best player.
If Kingz can take 4 more shots a game without losing efficiency, he is our best scorer. The few clips we've seen say he is an intense defender as well. Though his defensive metrics suggest he's a slightly above average defender, he might improve there as well.

I'm hoping Freeman is our best player, I think he has player of the year type of potential. But if Kingz can be Nightwing to Freeman's Dark Knight, that is a top foundation to build a team from.

It would be sweet if a guy who averaged 18 a game and a guy who averaged 6.5 assists a game could become afterthoughts...

Crazy what an actual S&C program can accomplish
I know I'm quoting myself here but the more I think about it, the more I'm actually pissed off about this.

It's actually embarrassing as a high-major program that we just didn't properly commit any time and effort into actual strength & conditioning over the last however-many years.

How many wins were left on the table, even during JB's good years? Were we playing certain styles because we didn't WANT to put the effort in to get the players conditioned into playing man defense? It's infuriating.

Kings shot the lights out from 3 for like 80% of his season. He was low volume so a few cold shooting games near end of season brought his % down too.
