Summer Sessions 2025

I’m sure Harris is running tests on all the guys to get their measurable abilities down. Strength, agility, explosiveness, probably some things people outside the highest levels haven’t thought of yet… I would love to see a before and after of those measurements on the summer long training camp. (Just like I’ll never see Kline’s database, I know it will never happen.)

If that level of intensity is kept all summer long, they all should be extremely fit and a lot stronger when school rolls around.
May not see the actual numbers but similar to football it would be good to see before and after photos without the flexing.

With the massively upgraded roster, coaching maybe the biggest variable determining success
1000%. This team probably isn’t going to win a championship if we are being honest. But this team is 100% built to be a tournament team. The only thing holding them back is the coaching and Red. This teams ceiling is determined more on how much Red improves as a coach.

One thing I am picking up on with the article on using JJ and Donnie to recruit in a pro like approach is the somewhat subtle effort to highlight the GM role and taking a very NBA like approach. It’s smart on numerous levels including giving more prestige to that role in the event say Red doesn’t work out but you keep your GM…

Unlike last year, when the ceiling was being on the right side of the bubble, this team actually could be really good if everything goes right.

If you look at the upper projection for each of our guys, that actually does look like a team that can get a high seed. All the parts are there, they just need to come together.

It would buck the trend but would love to see the settlement results provide for having a large portion of the team to come back should it be a solid year. Outliers being Donnie going pro for example alongside JJ being a senior.

It will be interesting to see if having a clear number available changes the game a little around how many guys look to the portal.

Injuries too but let’s be honest that card has been played. And really if Autry has another injury prone team it seems like it may just mean that he was just not meant to be coaching.

George is the key. Usually when we have had a good point guard we do well. Going all the way back to Dave Bing.

Autry has been on radio and these videos a few times now with talk of NBA. Saying that we are recruiting XYZ player and expecting them to develop into XYZ NBA talent. I guess we’ll see

Yeah Im not so much speaking to having NBA talent as much as having a more pro like approach in handling the program as it pertains to the significance of the GM role.

100%. He has risen to the occasion multiple times at GT too. Almost a triple double against Louisville last year when they were snacking everyone. 2 years ago had 9 assists against Duke and won, 20 points on the road against Clemson in a win, another win against #3 UNC.

That’s with very little supporting cast. He does not need to be the star of the team, he needs to be the captain. He takes direction from Coach, Team takes direction George. Donnie is the superstar and the rest play their part.

When is his contract up? Maybe Syracuse basketball will become relevant again with a new high profile coach. I've moved on to become a fan of the Indiana Fever. But it's not the same. I miss the good ole days of Big East basketball. Oh, well. I hope the $20 million the school got on the football TV deal was worth it. I'll check back in with you in 10 years, if I'm still alive.

I'm just glad to see them trying to build some excitement and market the team, too. Last year was sad to see in the Dome. Hope they give the fans something to cheer for and the fans support the team early on.
Yea on the excitement and marketing part I'm happy they're not down the path of making it all about Kiyan. He just turned 18 3 months ago and Is going to need some runway to turn into what we all hope he can be.

100 percent on Kiyan. Let him develop at his own pace. He's got a few years to become a star. The team will succeed on the backs of Donnie + George this year, with JJ hopefully playing a strong supportive role like he's best suited to do. Sadiq and Kiyan are't immediate saviors.
