Sure Glad That Ugly Scene At Cortland Has Never Happened at SU

Now I don't have to tell you good folks what's been happening in our beloved little town. Sheriff murdered, crops burned, stores looted, people stampeded, and cattle raped. The time has come to act, and act fast. I'm leaving.

Now is the time of great decision
Are we to stay or up and quit?
There's no avoiding this conclusion
Our town is turning into .

Seriously, you can do whatever the you want, just don't start hurting random people with dumb sh!Te or rioting...I am sure the Cortland Police extended a pretty long leash for this day. Ridiculous, once the cops show up and the rioting picked up I wasn't going to end well

I just watched video 1 and video 3 and those things weren't shown, just alot of kids drinking in a crowded place and acting like fools. didn't see the out of control stuff in those videos. if it was worse than depicted then i take back my prior comments about the craziness of this party but i'll stand by my prior statement that i've been to similiar/bigger outdoor college parties where it didn't require 20 police cars to disband/create control. And my undergrad was in the SUNY system too.
Eh I was there. I promise you if you ask anyone who was on Clayton Av. between 2 and 5 oclock they'll tell you it was dangerous and out of control. Kids jumping off houses, projectiles, kids running around with axes, I'm sure there was looting, etc.

sorry but you when you have this many people partying things can escalate quickly. Maybe the police presence caused some of the escalation but what if they weren't there and 4000 people decided it was ok to start looting, raping and setting things on fire.

If anyone was at the 1999 'woodstock' you know what i'm talking about.

As soon as the police showed up the whole, god I hate people these days but, " the police" attitude came on and the You can't stop us mentality.

I don't know what would have happened with a smaller police presence. I doubt it'd be much better if even better.

I was at Cortaca. I was in the middle of the "mob" on Clayton street at my friends house.

I'm from UB. I party a lot. I've been around crazy scenes and extremely drunk people.

As a 20 year old fun loving college student, I'll even say this was out of control. One of my close friends was hit in the head with the leg of a chair and hospitalized.

I witnessed kids throwing full and empty class bottles into the middle of the crowd, some hit people's heads.

I saw a kid chase a police officer through the streets with an axe.

I enjoyed my time, but it's really just staggering how kids can disregard there town and community. I don't know any school that parties as consistently and with such high demographics as UB in NY...

...But at least we don't shi- on our town. It was terrible.

It's not THEIR town or THEIR community. It's mine and all the other people that actually live their lives there. These young people are disrespectful, entitled morons. If the college had any civic responsibility at all, those arrested would be expelled. The town sold out out years ago...

I remember the 1987 National Championship game on Marshall street on the Hill was a pretty dangerous place after the game. They greased down the trees so people couldn't climb them and there were plenty of bottles flying through the air that night as well.

Jesus I'm sorry. Idk I consider Buffalo my town now. I do community service and have donated to urban revitalization. If SUNY Cortland is everything you say it is, that's just sad.

I'm sorry for what you went through, I really am. I am not like that, I promise.

99 block party. Saw a kid going down Ackerman in a shopping cart, buck naked. He wiped out and the cops threw him in a paddy wagon.

That must've been BRNCuseFVERCuse going downhill in that shopping cart. Go to the 1:34 mark...

I'm in that video hahahahahah

Wasn't me but my friends brother owns the house where that happened infront of. They were calling it "Real Life Drunk Mario Kart".

Also I saw the kid jump off the roof, didn't think that'd be the image of Cortaca though.

My only claim to fame was I started the USA USA USA chants. Wasn't in the video, still epic.

You guys don't get it.

When this stuff happens today it's the signal of the downfall of western civilization.

When it happened 20 years ago we laugh and reminisce about good times.

:)

Yeah you're all old.

Once the city started kissing SUNY's azz, it all went down hill. When industry left, SUNY became the areas largest employer. Not sure why, but the city started giving in on everything...as if SUNY was going to leave. Having said that, I am in no way saying every student is a horse's ass. I have seen far more of it than I should have to, though.

I promise you nothing like this happened 20 years ago here. Not even in the same universe.

SUNY Cortland has come a long ways, newer facilities , athletic center, performing arts center. Outside of SUNY it's pretty much like many update ny tines with very little industry left. Oswego, Binghamton, etc.

Many of those student off campus houses should be condemed

Wish I could go to a big party like that or Mayfest at Oswego. I mean I do Mayfest anyway but still it's nice when it's at the school you attend.

Cities sometimes riot after they win a sports championship. Are we going to cancel them?
The guy slid off the rail and fell in to the lower deck at the Bills game injuring two people. Are we now going to cancel Bills games?
The people behind the shenanigans are the problem, not the football game itself.
