Syracuse +13.5 vs. Tennessee

I tried listening to a few Vols podcasts today. These guys and the fans are delusional. Some saying Tennessee going to win by 50. Do they not realize they return less on offense than we do. Yeah, their D will look good, but I still think Nixon is going to find a way to move the ball. I’m taking the under and SU to win by 3. I think Joey A throws a pick when trying to press late which seals the game for SU.
Cuse hasn't lost a game by 50 points since 1999 and Tennessee has never, like as in ever in its history, beaten a Power 4 / 5 (whatever you want to call it now) by 50 points. So... that's all sorts delusional

They had a good shot to do that to NC State before they let of the gas last year.

Yes. You just described the bulk of the Tennessee fanbase. They stick their head in the SEC sand and don't think anything exists outside of it. They are so uninformed about anything outside of the SEC.
I was pretty young and at the Cuse/Tenn game with my dad, and was genuinely baffled when their fans started chanting “SEC” during and after the game

That's not true. Georgia Tech 2013. Purdue 2004
Worst game I've ever been to.
It was rainy as well.
We returned to our tailgate location (including tents) after the 3rd quarter.

How miserable. I can't remember if I was even able to watch it. Maybe I repressed the memory.

We can’t handle playing big boys yet.

We already had Notre Dame. It is overkill. Not like we are Indianaing it.

How much money? I would be surprised if it were much more than $2.5M. That isn’t worth potentially missing Bowl money over.
the numbers they were discussing on the radio for this type of game today was 10 million,

How is that possible? If that is the case then the Bowls are ripping people off with their payouts. Schools should ask for more money.

This game is one of many playing at noon. Not like it will generate a ton of money. Is anyone even talking about this game?

This is what the wiki has:

Payout to each team depends on the amount of revenue gained in excess of the Kickoff's $5.5 million budget. In 2008, Clemson and Alabama were both expected to receive more than $2 million.

That was before Aflac took over sponsorship. So it doesn’t appear the amount is fixed so maybe they expect to pull in $10 million then split the remaining $4.5 million (after covering budget)? Which would give us $2.25 million ish.

Well bowls do rip schools off IMO. But they also have a lot of unnecessary expenses and extra costs than just a standard neutral site game too. I read someone this week who suggested that schools should start hosting their own bowl games and eliminate the bowl game committees and all the overhead. I wouldn’t be surprised if we head there before long.

For this game, I imagine the sponsorship dollars help quite a bit.

I’m sure we’re making a decent amount more than we would collect for a home game. It’s why teams do these.

Ticket and TV revenue for these games is different for these games too.

Bowls dont exist to create revenue for the teams. Its just a by product. Bowl games host for 3-5 days of events as well, they travel at a more expensive time of the year. Often far less tickets are sold.

I know that they said GT made 10X a normal home game by playing the game vs Clemson in Mercedes in 2022.

Looks like Sam Altman really let me down here...
There's a lot of things chat is good for, but basic facts is not one of them. Need a quick outline or to re-word a letter or email, and it's great. It's occasionally very good at summarizing PDF files. It's good with concepts as well. But it gets easy facts wrong all the time.

the oniy place you can bet fanduel in vegas is in person at the freemont and they had by far the best odds for the syracuse game that i could find.

I typically dont use it for fact finding. I use it a lot for scope of work summaries and briefs if im too lazy to read at the time, I might just dump in the docs. Or for even combining documents etc... but for something trivial like this I wasn't about to spend any kind of time researching. Aw well...

For all the yapping, it seems to me that they have had about as much turnover in personnel as we have, especially on offense.

To me, this game comes down to who is more physical on the lines. We have a lot of big boys on both sides of the ball these days, which is a welcome change from years past.

If we play tough, I don't see us getting boat raced by these hick bastards. I think this is going to be a close game.

Hate the implications of this line.

Hope we shock the world tomorrow, by going toe-to-toe from beginning to end, with an offense that puts up points.

I watched a lot of football last night [Thursday], where teams that were heavily favored struggled [like Boise State]. Lines this early in the season, in the era of the portal, don't mean much IMO. Hope we prove it on the field in 24 hours.
