Syracuse +13.5 vs. Tennessee

Cuse hasn't lost a game by 50 points since 1999 and Tennessee has never, like as in ever in its history, beaten a Power 4 / 5 (whatever you want to call it now) by 50 points. So... that's all sorts delusional
Didn't we lose 56 to 0 against Georgia Tech in 2013... That game where Shafer had no clue how to defend the option, and McFits offense did nothing.

For all the yapping, it seems to me that they have had about as much turnover in personnel as we have, especially on offense.

To me, this game comes down to who is more physical on the lines. We have a lot of big boys on both sides of the ball these days, which is a welcome change from years past.

If we play tough, I don't see us getting boat raced by these hick bastards. I think this is going to be a close game.
And we reloaded big time on o line. Hopefully we can have a really good line

The OL looks the part. We will soon know much more about the talent level and how well they mesh. The Vols D is for real.

The same goes for the D line. Tennessee is going to try to run the ball down our throats.

There is a reason why we are 14 point dogs. But, as RF2044 noted, early season lines don't mean as much in portal era.

DART is real. The culture has definetly changed. I'm really looking forward to seeing how well we can compete.

And I'll add that if Angeli is as good as I believe he is, we are going to be a problem for Tennessee, with the skilled talent we have [and if the OL delivers].

We'll know tomorrow whether we can move the ball and score point, or whether this turns into a scrum [which wouldn't favor us].

Tenn got a ton of love for the D last year. Even then the 4 teams that had decent offenses moved the ball on them pretty well.

They also played 6 games vs teams who didn't have much offense.

We will find out Sat which side of the equation we stand on.
A 235 lb running back is going to be a big problem for Tennessee. And he likes to run through people .

How miserable. I can't remember if I was even able to watch it. Maybe I repressed the memory.
It was the game where Shafer said going in we had concocted a great defensive game plan to shut down the option offense. And they were Sooooooo close to pulling it off (on one play in the middle of 2Q, iirc).

I typically dont use it for fact finding. I use it a lot for scope of work summaries and briefs if im too lazy to read at the time, I might just dump in the docs. Or for even combining documents etc... but for something trivial like this I wasn't about to spend any kind of time researching. Aw well...
I've started uploading transcripts when I need a quick basic summary. It's not perfect, but it saves so much time. And if I need a quick outline to send some info to our staff - 2 minutes of prompts saves me 45 minutes of work. It's amazing.

We obviously lost so much, but I think Fran might have gotten us into a next man up situation. If the Oline is better than last year, and it just might be, that will open up the run a bit more and we wont need Angeli to be McCord 2.0.

If the defense can eliminate most of the huge plays they gave up last year, then this could be a great team, and the schedule will let them prove it.

I tried listening to a few Vols podcasts today. These guys and the fans are delusional. Some saying Tennessee going to win by 50. Do they not realize they return less on offense than we do. Yeah, their D will look good, but I still think Nixon is going to find a way to move the ball. I’m taking the under and SU to win by 3. I think Joey A throws a pick when trying to press late which seals the game for SU.
So their fans are delusional but ours are totally objective?

Arkansas ran two at them last year ... the main reason Tennessee lost that game was their offense was horrible. Our key to winning is preventing them from running long sustained drives like the Razorbacks did. In all of their losses or poor performances relative to level of competition UT was on the wrong side of the time of possession battle by a substantial margin 7-9 minutes less than their opponent.

The SEC was loaded with elite RBs. Tennessee was near the top of the league in rush defense, and 2nd overall in total defense in conference play. With the exception of Pearce, most of those guys are back and experienced. I kinda doubt they are losing sleep over having to defend SU's rushing attack.

Neither of those Arkansas running backs were like Willis. He just might end up being one of the best we have had, power with some speed.

I love our skill position guys. Now if we can compete in the trenches. Huge test.

Good grief I’ll bet you’ve never seen either of them play. Braylan Russell is bigger and was a 4 star recruit I think you need to stop spouting conjecture and watch a game. He was also rated higher than Willis in the 2024 class but yeah you’re right nothing like Willis. Take a time out and sit this one out champ.
