Syracuse and GM Alex Kline / Entire Staff Part Ways

This is nonsensical. Kline’s “results” are the players he identified for Red and the staff. That complete set of results (i.e the players he identified and advocated for) is not transparent to us fans.

If an advisor makes a recommendation that the CEO decides to not listen to, how in the world would you judge and label that the advisor is “you are who what your results say you are”?

I bet Kline is pretty talented at his job, but I also agree a total clean out is the best move forward.
If Kline brought better players to red and red ignored them then that still reads as a negative on Kline because he either didn't take into account what kind of player red wanted, or didn't show enough conviction in his choices to convince Red. Its not 100% alex's fault, but its also not 100% NOT his fault

The Post Standard says Torrey Ball met individually with all of the assistant coaches and told them they were being let go.
This is interesting as I guess that Wildhack had to catch his flight to Indy and probably didn’t have the time.

At least Lyke didn’t fire them.

Looks like Ball will be sliding into Herm’s old slot, provided that he is retained by Carparelli.

I think folks are reading too far into this. A coach got let go, his staff will follow.

I know we want to be excited about a new AD and coach being announced ASAP, but let’s pump the brakes.

Kline is a resource. The job is more attractive if the new candidate has a choice to take or leave him. Only reason to fire him now is that you know for sure the new coach doesn't want him, which means you either know who the coach is or you have a *very* short list.

That said just because the choice is made doesn't mean the announcement is near. Personally I'm not expecting an announcement until, say, USF gets eliminated from the tourney.

That is what I was told directly by the person being replaced. That he was grooming Torrey. Actually I think his wife told me 2 seconds before Herm came over to join us.

He'll land on his feet.

This is actually "good" news in the main vis a vis the new head coach, but "bad" because I think Kline was a great resource.

I assume this means that the new head coach will be from outside of the "family."

Best of luck to Alex Kline.
I would say "family adjacent," maybe.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. My bet is Wildhack told red last week before he went to indy. Bell just made it official today.

I’m not sure who our main target is. I hope it’s Hodgson like most others. But I can tell you there has been talks with agents and movement for the past month+. I do also know that they are trying to get this done right and quick so the head guy can get things rolling fast. From what I understand too we have a guy in mind that BOT and Wildhack are zeroed in on. I expect the AD hire to be announced tomorrow or Friday. The new AD, Wildhack and the BOT will likely get together by the end of the weekend and the new AD just has to sign off on it. And the new AD will have a list of candidates he likes too but seems like we already have an idea of who we want. The head coach to announced the day after his team is bounced from the NCAAs assuming it’s a college coach. Once again I do not know who the main target is but they have someone they are zeroed in on. Would not be surprised one bit if we are the first job that is opened to be filled. And we had our pick of the bunch first as we are likely the top/most desirable job that will be open this off season. But who knows, there’s been surprising retirements and coaches moving on each of the last few off seasons. I don’t expect this to be a long drawn out search though. We know who we want from what I’ve heard and behind the scenes agents have been getting calls for awhile now

Yup of the names mentioned, Hodgson and Schertz make the most sense if Kline is gone. The other three Murray, Hop, GMac I figure Kline would stay on or be encouraged to stay on and if he was leaving it would be his choice.
I would think any of the potential coaches would want their own guy. GMAC had no relationship with him so why would he want him around.

Syracuse, N.Y. ― In addition to the firing of head coach Adrian Autry, the rest of the basketball staff was also let go on Wednesday.

Those firings included all of Autry’s assistant coaches along with general manager Alex Kline, according to multiple sources.

Autry’s assistant coaches include Allen Griffin, Brenden Straughn, Dan Engelstad and Pete Corasaniti.

Syracuse athletic director John Wildhack informed Autry of the school’s decision to fire him after three seasons as the Orange’s head coach.

Autry then reached out to his assistants, he told Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard earlier Wednesday morning.

According to sources, SU deputy athletic director Torrey Ball informed the staff they were also officially out. The coaches received emails early Wednesday morning asking them to report to a meeting with Ball. The meetings were held individually with each of the assistants and not as a group.

There was some thinking that Kline might be retained. He was hired as the first general manager for the SU basketball program in the summer of 2024.

Kline, a Syracuse graduate, had spent the previous four years as a scout with the New York Knicks and, before that, was a scout with the New Orleans Pelicans for another four years.
I'm surprised Peter Corasiniti was let go so quickly; I would think he would be valuable to Red's successor, at least for an initial period. . His role was mainly logistics -- overseeing such stuff as travel schedules, buses, hotels, scheduling practices, worrying about food procurement on the road, equipment, etc. Prior to his current position, he was a student manager, senior student manager and graduate assistant. He essentially ran the day-to-day non-basketball part of the program.

My thinking is that the current Administration cleans house. If they new Coach decides he wants to keep any of the staff or GM, he can make that choice, and it's his choice as his job on the line. Makes sense to me to let the new coach decide.
