Syracuse football defensive tackle Steven Clark's career put in jeopardy by blood clots

I would trust my doctor. I'm not trying to defend Tucker, but I'm saying I can understand why he's made the call he has. Regardless if he's right or wrong. And I'm not calling other doctors biased, but if Steven went into those other specialists and told them what was going on, of course they'd clear him. Because they're not liable.

Why wouldn't they be liable? They are delivering an opinion that is placed in the medical record. Of course the entire assumption of risk at the end of the day falls on Steven.

We all have some inherent risk of blood clots. If you have a provoked blood clot- by surgery, immobility, leg brace cutting off blood supply- generally your risk of another event is the same as anyone else.

WHAT? You aren't defending him? You understand he made the call he has? YES, his call is like predicting Aaron judge of the Yankees will hit.270 this year after hitting .330 on the first half. He is clueless and practicing cover your butt medicine. In an audit situation, he isnt wrong, but, he is also far from right. AND, in the end, he isnt man enough to admit he was wrong, oh wait, OR...just defer to thr lingering other specialists ' opinions. Just stubborn and immature. He is in over his head, its on the administration. We are flat out losing players d/t this BS staffing situation.

That's it. You're disqualified.
The scary truth is if you knew the other story's of other players on the team and what has happened the last 2 years you would really be scared of what is going on with the guy making these decisions. You all have no idea

I usually like the opposition you bring but not on this.

Take your scenario of trusting your Dr. He says you can play and 5 specialists say you shouldn't play. Are you still going to play?

If the specialists say dont play and the local family doc giving hs physicals says...play; then i am 100% with the specialists. Anyone with a brain WOULD.

That's a fantastic argument right there. And, of course, completely unconscientious that a player should play when the specialists say play, and the family doc says don't

Is that not what I said?

If multiple specialists say yes, then play. In the medical world most of us know, the primary defers to specialists in areas of ortho, cardio, pulmonary, renal, and YES, hematology. This happens for some 45 yo no name in a small town, such as myself;) Thus, you would think a kid on a 60k schollie playing at a p5 school would get the same look. Geeez.

Yes, and TY. couldn't read the tone for a moment. There is a faction of good ole boys on here that oppose me about anything. ;)

I adjusted original post a bit. I'm bad about typing my thoughts. Sometimes I think I get it all out on paper and I look at it and it reads like crap. I have no agenda here. Not trying to call anyone out just not on board with original quote.

Cool man. Well said and cool to connect with ya. Go Cuse!:)

It's like the commercials where 9 out of 10 doctors recommended this. We got that 1 quack, who just has to go against the norm. This is really infuriating, and just won't stop bugging me. I'm trying to stay level headed.

I can't imagine what Steven, Steve, and family are feeling. Truly appreciate the updates. I'm rooting that it is WMU, but wherever he ends up, then I'll be watching. More importantly, he will be getting his degrees, and has a plan for the future.

I'm glad he's well now, but the fact that our staff was the cause is ridiculous. I could ramble on. I just hope this is a wakeup call for SU. Also, I really hope this works out for the best for Steven. He will do well wherever, just sucks it won't be here, leading the DLine.

I honestly would be disappointed if he had responded in any other way to the general public.

If you don't think they're having discussions about this internally, you are absolutely nuts.

I would hope so, but then again this isn't a 1 time thing. Things have been suspicious for years. Hopefully this one is getting enough publicity where it is at least going to be looked at.

I have spent 8 years of my life working with doctors to improve patient outcomes and can tell you without a doubt that doctors are some of the most stubborn arrogant people on the planet.

I'm not a doctor and it was never my job to know more about the doctor but it was my job to know more about a very narrow aspect of his job. The same way a blood clot specialist may not know the best treatment for turf toe.

So true. Being in medical sales I have ran into some real . You can say that is true about all people, no matter the profession, but MD's tend to be a breed of their own when it comes to arrogance and even more when it comes to stubbornness

Yet there will still be a few people here that will play the other side of the argument. Hey, maybe their Dr's?

Just sad that given all the positive things going on with the program: dino, wildhack, dome Reno, acc $$$, cutting edge strength and conditioning, an uptick in attendance d/t a schedule with juice including Clemson, fsu, pitt, Miami, AND a good looking, intelligent, well spoken, stud of a qb in ED. YUP, sitting in the medical office with all the power in the world over these kids AND the program is a man in the twilight of his career after seeing office patients with GERD, appendicitis, arthritis, strep throat, pneumonia, asthma, and the flu.
.. and on and on...yes, given all the positive things Cuse fb has in place, we are still at mercy with this situation.

Obviously that's disappointing. A reputation like that eventually gets out, and, when that happens, why would any parent want to send their kid to SU? We all have to hope this is rectified soon for the sakes of current and future athletes.

Ok. Something is brewing but only a little bit.

Keep up the emails guys (in your own words) to the Chancellor & AD - but especially the BOT if you have not done so yet. The spotlight is moving towards this incident and is raising questions in the appropriate places by at least 1 important person that I know of but more is needed.

Most people working at Universities want to hide and remain hidden and never come under the dreaded spotlight. Exposing Tucker's incompetence is paramount especially the DQ process he uses when 4-5 specialists have cleared him to play.

Add clippings from Syracuse.com but especially WMU clearing him to play and I hope other universities clear him as well. Also add tweets and clippings from Syracuse.com. Any appropriate social Cuse media source would help too (I don't tweet so I don't know). In general SU hates controversy and the airing of their "dirty laundry" that embarrasses them relative to other P5 schools...nuff said.

Can anyone picture this situation if it was a starter on the men's basketball team?

Hipocratic Oath says they are responsible if not liable. The doctors I know take the oath very seriously.
