East Rutherford, N.J. — Despite a contract announcement that indicated Syracuse will play 10 games at MetLife Stadium by the year 2038, the university said it currently has no current plans to play again at the stadium after 2016.

Syracuse's initial contract with MetLife Stadium Corporation covered four games through 2016. A second contract announcement in 2011 extended it.

Joe Giansante, the chief of communications for the Syracuse athletic department, said the contract between the university and MetLife Corporation allows both sides to re-visit the terms of the agreement.

He did not rule out more appearances at neutral sites or away from the Carrier Dome but insisted none are currently being planned...

I was hoping that this would be revisited. It didn't make any sense with us being in the ACC, especially if we go to 9 conference games in the future.

I won't miss these games replacing home games, but the timing of this was very strange. Gross/Giansante hammered the MetLife games as being so great for the program that I was shocked to read the story tonight.

Makes me think MetLife is the side that's revisiting the deal...

If they are giving us 5 mill a game - they prob should.

The article said either side could reexamine.

Don't be so sure it's SU pulling the plug.

Not last night.

Whoa...

I've said this a TRILLION times, if its not Syracuse playing there, it will be the b1g.

Not good.
The B1G is not going to force Rutgers to play at MetLife. The B1G doesn't force Northwestern to play at Soldier Field in Chicago.
This news is the only silver lining from last night. Playing home games 300 miles from your campus and having triple the Irish fans to Orange fans is not good for our program.
I don't care if MetLife pulled the plug or if SU did. Good job Dr. Gross the money is not as needed as much now as it was needed in 2011.

I agree to a point but the Big 10 already owns Chicago...they do not have that same pull in Jersey. Personally, I like games to be played there on a national stage if it's a one and done with a team to fit a schedule need.

I would support neutral site games anywhere, anytime.any team. The Penn State game was perfect template for MetLife games.
The most popular team in Chicago is probably Notre Dame even though it is a B1G city overall.
The B1G isn't going to force Rutgers to move home games the conference is old school they play a lot of 12pm games, after week 1 they don't play any home games on any day but Sunday. Rutgers can choose to play at MetLife the B1G won't make or ask to do it.
The B1G may choose to play their conference title game at MetLife but conference games won't likely be played there.

They can tell the dead weight jersey state to play an OOC there, maybe Lemoyne or OCC has an opening.

As for SU, playing a school like Stanford or a school with some east coast alum from the left side of the colonies.

If Rutgirls wanted to play games in the Meadowlands, they would have signed the deal that Notre Dame offered.

Who s saying Rutgers is moving games to Giants Stadium??

They sell out their 56k or whatever site nicely and regularly. They don't need a gimmick like SU does.

If Syracuse isn't playing there, nd, Michigan & Ohio St will find somebody else to play there.

NOT GOOD.

It was a great deal for the opponent's fans--kinda like SU bball games at opponents' off-campus venues. Maybe we should have restricted ticket sales to SU donors or season-ticket holders or whatever trick Georgetown uses to keep us away.

I can't imagine the Meadowlands ever agreeing to that.

That's not a very good reason for SU to jump on the grenade for the ACC to be the elite team's whipping boy for a paycheck and "exposure".

0-3 so far. The publicity isn't good when we lose every game there in the spot light.

Regarding your comment about protecting NYC they are more than likely going to match us up against a B1G team like OSU or PSU anyway because they need someone to fill the stadium because we sure can't. It was sad last night to look around and see our "home game" GROSSLY outnumbered. Way to go NYC alumni.

Funny observations- Soooo many walmart bandwagon nd fans. Asked a bunch of fans their connection to the team and I heard "I'm quarter Irish, I'm catholic, i went to catholic school, I like the colors, they are good". ND must be the king of all bandwagon schools. Strong correlation between Yankee fans and notre dame fans.

Also for as many people as they brought I didn't see more than one or two hot female notre dames. They have a dangerously high ratio of overweight/busted face female fans. The only decent looking ones were older cougars. I'm somewhat concerned they may not be recognizable as humans in a few generations.

Met Life has to be losing money on these games.
75K of tickets at more than $100 a ticket so probably almost 10 million in ticket sales. how much did they make in Ad money?

Saw thT last night in another thread. Glad it's probably over, regardless of who is backing out. Some of us said contracts were made to be broken. Dumbest deal ever. 20+ years for 14 games. Stupid.

Where this program is right now, we are better off taking a few years at a time and doing home and homes with a mid level P5 with the occasional home and home with an LSU. Not playing top 20 teams in NJ.

Ohio State hasn't played in Giants/MetLife Stadium since the 1999 Kickoff Classic against Miami(Fl)
Michigan hasn't played in MetLife/Giants Stadium since the 1980's.
Notre Dame played Navy in a Navy home game at MetLife.

Honestly who gives a if those teams play in metlife we aren't going to beat them for recruits anyway. If teams want to play neutral site games at MetLife we should do it. However, that Syracuse "home" game last night was embarrassing. For what I heard we had 18k fans and Notre Dame had 50k+ fans.

A lot of those 75k tickets were sold for a lot less than 100 dollars. My friends bought 10 tickets for 70 dollars on Groupon. If MetLife paid us 5 million for each of these games Syracuse made a lot more money than MetLife did.

ya right last night was a packed house. Tons of people buying over priced food, drink, and parking.

But getting home at 5:30 wasn't fun. I'm happy this is hopefully the last for a while.
