Syracuse football won Dino Babers' trust 3 years ago; to keep him, it must do so again

I know the PS has had some fair criticism here over the years (some not so fair, too), but Mink is killing it this year.
Beat me to it. He’s on a 6 or so month tear of fantastic pieces.

This great piece is entirely why I’ve taken issue with the frantic “extend him now!!!” posts. John Wildhack knows what the hell he’s doing. He’s more on top of this than anyone here could dream of being. Count your lucky stars that he’s the AD.

I agree about Mink and I think Bailey has turned the corner in my eyes as well.

Experience has a way of doing that.

I have a lot of faith in our administration. I feel pretty good that we'll keep him for at least a few more years. If an Ohio State, USC, Texas, Alabama or Oklahoma ever calls, then I'll worry. But we're not losing him to Maryland or Louisville.

And its just so nice to read that we have a coaching staff that embraces Syracuse. We only heard from the Marrone/Shafer staffs how difficult it was to recruit here. Just whiners. I'm sure Dino feels the same way, but embracing what we have and selling recruits on it is what winners do.

What's funny is that their tone has changed this year , and it's because Syracuse is good. It's interesting.

Agree 100%. Easy to cover the program like Eeyore when the program perpetually stinks.

When we're winning, the enthusiasm ratchets up a notch -- even with the coverage.

That quote about embracing every asset we have.

That means the Dome.

Dino gets what the Dome means.

There's no better place for Dino Babers.

I don't even factor in the Dome reno when thinking about the pros for Dino to stay. But man, I can't imagine how awesome it would be for him to be the man at the helm of a "new" Dome. College ball in a small scale pro-stadium. Would be really cool and a lot of fun. He's got to envision this. Dino likes to recite movie quotes - Bull Durham - if you build it they will come.

Turned down more money from Missouri to come to SU; that says a lot.

I would love to hear why.

Dome stadium?

Stronger football tradition?

Preferable Conference? Easier to compete in ACC?

Easier to recruit to Syracuse University?

Preferable area to live?

Better QB?

Stronger commitment by Syracuse University?

Field of Dreams, not Bull Durham

It was Field of Dreams, but we get the point!
