Syracuse football won Dino Babers' trust 3 years ago; to keep him, it must do so again

He just published the article about the attendance being pro-notre dame on saturday. He's been very good this year but that article belongs in the trash

Well, he’s reporting facts there.
Bad reporter! Not homer enough!!

It’s a ND home game. That THEY chose to move to a neutral site.
So naturally the vast majority of fans will be Irish.
But - probably less so than had this game been @ ND, so if anything it’s better for us than it otherwise would have been.

That said - we went toe to toe w Clemson for an entire game.
AT Death Valley.

ND ain’t Clemson.
Yankee Stadium ain’t Death Valley.

Lol no the point is the article was pointless. Obviously there will be more irish fans there.

Also using vivid seats as your indicator... yikes.

The article just wreaked of "Nate you need to have 10 articles done for this game and you currently only have 9"

Read the article.

I did.

The article does not explain his decision to reject Mizzou.

There is, of course, the overall theme of "trust."

But no specific indication that he did not "trust" the University of Missouri.

At least to my reading.

What did you glean from the article that I apparently missed?

Mizzou was in the middle of a huge national news race story. Being a black coach down there would have required an extra bus for all the baggage.

Something is also to be said for how many pro teams play indoors now as well. It is not some kind of limiting factor for player growth and development . A top player can come in and have elite facilities and play half the season inside a dome.

Babers is a smart guy. He is seeing his vision of the Dome being a true advantage coming to life. That is a really important factor here too. If we win out, or even drop the ND game and then beat BC, we were likely 3 close losses away from competing for a national championship, with a boatload of talent ready to throwdown next year.

If USC comes calling it will be the true test here.

Hey so one thing I got out of the article - we won't know he's leaving until it's announced. Hopefully the schools won't be able to keep their mouths shut.

Crazy, if true, that Dino had an agreement in place with UCF to be their next coach, but backed out after the school leaked it. If it wasn't for their mishap, Dino goes to UCF and we likely get Scott Frost (who eventually would take the Nebraska job, leaving us looking for another head coach).

Exactly. I think that played a big part. Mizzou was a mess at the time.

I don't even factor in the Dome reno when thinking about the pros for Dino to stay. But man, I can't imagine how awesome it would be for him to be the man at the helm of a "new" Dome. College ball in a small scale pro-stadium. Would be really cool and a lot of fun. He's got to envision this. Dino likes to recite movie quotes - Bull Durham - if you build it they will come.

Therefore it’s pointless to worry about his name being linked to a job. And actually is a positive when it is.

His agent isn’t tipping off reporters about a job he’s taking...and any administration that does so has poisoned the well.

Seriously, it’s the best case scenario to keep your stress level down.

With bombardment of news I seem to get every day, I have no memory of that.

Really like that the AD is seriously considering renovating the Frosh dorms. Personally think they've been a hindrance.
Biggest weakness with facilities that remains. This is something Dino is pushing for.

If SU wants to keep Dino, the most important thing they can do towards that end is address the facilities issues Dino identifies. This is priority 1 on that front.

This great piece is entirely why I’ve taken issue with the frantic “extend him now!!!” posts. John Wildhack knows what the hell he’s doing. He’s more on top of this than anyone here could dream of being. Count your lucky stars that he’s the AD.

There isn’t a guy that is better equipped to run a modern fbs athletic department. Couple that with his emotional commitment and we have the best ad by far in my opinion

Field of Dreams, not Bull Durham
Field of Dreams quotes
Rose goes in the front, big guy
Okay, well, uh... candlesticks always make a nice gift, and uh, maybe you could find out where she's registered and maybe a place-setting or maybe a silverware pattern.
