Biggest weakness with facilities that remains. This is something Dino is pushing for.

If SU wants to keep Dino, the most important thing they can do towards that end is address the facilities issues Dino identifies. This is priority 1 on that front.

Agreed.

It has been a recurring issue - and I guess will remain an issue as the facilities wars continue.

It is/was THE one glaring issue I remember when on our official visit back in 2015. Getting it resolved, I think, will go a long way in recruiting top tier players.

Can you explain more?

What did you see at Syracuse University and what did you see at other schools?

I remember the Dino to UCF Story breaking. I seem to recall the board considering that the first Domino to fall to get Frost lol.

Funny how things end up working out.

Only thing we didn't like about SU was housing. A number of G5 schools outdid SU on that front. Florida's student (athlete) housing was palatial in comparison. Once student housing is brought up to be on par with other ACC schools, it'll make Dino's job of selling recruits on SU so much easier.

What kind of money are we talking about to address the dorm issue? And I dont mean band aid and window dressing, I'm talking about smashing it out of the park. How many buildings involved and what would be the realistic time frame? Are renovations or replacement to the South Campus apartments part involved/included? Do the new private apartments (Genesee St and the older one on Comstock) that have just come online factor in at all? Thanks for any info guys!

I would love to hear why.

Dome stadium?

Stronger football tradition?

Preferable Conference? Easier to compete in ACC?

Easier to recruit to Syracuse University?

Preferable area to live?

Better QB?

Stronger commitment by Syracuse University?
He places the integrity of the school and program above all. No institutional gimmicks, that disrespect the oponnent, and a history of respect towards players and students. These are 2 traditions that matter.

Where do athletes live frosh year. Olindo Mare and Casey Powell lived in Day with me. They seemed happy w the accomodations. ND i think all athletes live with lay people.

I'm curious if south campus barracks are the issue or some other dorm situation that is new now

Cuse housing is OK. If it can be improved, great. Saw that Michigan puts their 1st year players in small double rooms. Surprising.. The apartments are better than that, at least.

I believe the frosh are at Skytop.

They are. In those awful green apartments. Looks like Navy housing.

Brick ones are a little nicer. Single level, with more space.

Compared to what a typical frosh gets, they're better.

The good news is that the relationship between Dino and John borders on mutual admiration society status and that John is doing everything in his power to help Dino realize his vision and goals at Syracuse.
And the other good news is that if Dino WERE to move on I would absolutely expect John to come through with yet another home run hire. We are in incredibly good hands.

Wildhack is one smooth customer. Got out of ESPN when the tough got going and showed up at SU when they needed him most. We are lucky to have him. Let's hope he has 20 years left to do this job. Guy is great

In some other good news the new chairperson of the SU Board of Trustees is Kathleen Walters who is married to Stanley Walters, a 1972 graduate, who played football at SU before going on to play for the Philadelphia Eagles. He also worked as a radio color commentator later in his career.

Having a football fan as the chairperson should help getting approval for a pay raise for Dino and his staff.

I thought all Football players and Basketball players stayed at South Campus. At least that was the word in the 80s-90s. Went to many a party on South Campus and thought the apartments were terrible army barracks military housing vibe to them. Wish I won the powerball recently and I would have helped them rip them all down and replace with a nice village housing feeling.

I honestly feel that the University has to come up with more money for Coach Babers and his staff. If that doesn't happen then we the fans might as well kiss goodby to the football program.
Three years ago when Dino Babers came to Syracuse University to be the head coach, he told us all who listened and in front of a packed room, his vision for the future for the program,I for one believed every word that he spoke at that time. I listened to the local reports questions and came away from his first speech and thought that everyone in that room at that time thought Diono Babers was crazy and he couldn't do what others have tried to accomplish over the last 20 years. The first 2 years he went 4-8 and everyone was crying for his removal.
I believe that Syracuse will win on Saturday and will improve it's overall record to 9-2 (5-2 ACC) and jump into the top 10 in the polls. Not bad for a team that was picked to finish in last place in the Atlantic Division of the ACC conference.
In the end I believe that Coach Babes will get the "COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD". If he wins on Saturday then I think that Syracuse beats Boston College the following week and goes 10-2 (6-2 ACC) and the sky is the limit for us,and A TRIP TO THE MOON IS A POSSIBILITY FO US THE FANS. Oh!!! one other thing I have complete trust in Coach Dino Babers.

There's a link to the Chris Ash thread on page 19.

I was reading through that as well. A lot of people doing God's work. Millhouse, KaiserUEO , IthacaBarrel, Alsacs among others.

I think it's my favorite thread of all time. It was like speed dating. You'd try to read one short post right after it was posted, hit refresh, and you were 3 full pages behind.

UnknownOrange called it.

In my dumb 20's I ended up at quite a few parties there as well. Just a broke kid with a bus pass from the South Side, I remember thinking how good the SU students had it with those digs. Looking at the place now it is so obviously antiquated, it's almost shameful that they've ridden those out so long. I still can't help but see an amazing opportunity. Bring in an architect with some vision and risk appetite, a real-life Howard Rourke kinda fella, and South Campus could be really special.

Really like that the AD is seriously considering renovating the Frosh dorms. Personally think they've been a hindrance.
Hi Bcubs, would love to see steven on the sideline as a GA. Blessing
