Syracuse is 3-0!

and no one wanted Dino gone more than me. He won 1 game in A YEAR. He got bailed out bc of Eric Dungey. Dino didn’t recruit or work hard. Major difference here between Dino and Red. And I’ve also said over and over Red has to coach better.
People aren't out of line to be upset by what we have just watched in these three games. They just aren't. We played three horrible teams at home and all three had the ball with under 10 seconds with a chance to win with a banked 3. Honestly, we couldn't have done much worse. Now, I like our freshman. All 3. And we do have a very good recruiting class coming in. But Red has to show us more as the season goes on. We can get better but as of right now, we aren't a good basketball team. I would say the worst in over 50 years to be honest.

This isn't "3-0" like we beat UNC, Oregon, and the teams we're about to face.
Come back in 3 weeks.

Who does everyone think should be the coach? Bc you’re not getting a coach from a high level conference so let’s hear it …
Personally, I'm not close to that point, but what I'm seeing on the court on defense is bad...really bad. We beat Lemoyne, Colgate, and Youngstown St by a combined 15 points and could have lost to all of them if a play or two had gone differently.

We are making guys from Colgate and Youngstown St look like NBA lottery picks. The Colgate kid looked like Allen Iverson. How do you not take Farmer's left hand away almost the entire game in today's game? I could go on and on.

And it's not like we are playing these games in short succession. We have had several days in between games to try to fix things. That's putting a huge spotlight on the coaching staff. Defense in these games is like watching the movie, Groundhog Day. Same disaster repeating game after game.

At this point, I would consider a single digit loss to Texas a positive, but have zero reason to believe that's going to happen. I'm glad we are 3-0 and am trusting the process, but in today's game where fans are supposed to buy tickets AND donate additional money to put a decent product on the court (i.e. NIL collectives), frustration is completely warranted.

It is hard to criticize Red on this board with so many people having personal connections with him. They make everything seem so personal. Red is who we have so hope for the best but we should have and should be able to do a lot better as a head coach for Syracuse.

He's 23 12 has a head coach with a top 5 recruiting class with a chance for it to be number 1 if we land another recruit...new to basketball?

Well we finally got Big Daddy to fan out on the guard after his man sets the screen - so that's an improvement

The one big stop we got late in the game when Bell completely locked down his man and he took a fall away jumper which Bell completely contested and resulted in an air ball - um, why doesn't Bell play defense like that all the time - he should be an insane off the ball help defender with his leaping ability - pretty sure he doesn't have a block on the season

He's 23 12 has a head coach with a top 5 recurring class with a chance for it to be number 1 if we land another recruit...dummy

Overall record in college basketball is meaningless. So far he is 0-1 in making it to the tournament that is all that matters. This season unless he turns it around big time he will be 0-2 in making the tournament. Recruiting classes will not matter if he can't coach up the talent to make the tournament.

He is just such a first class guy and I've only met him for about 5 mins.

23*-12.
* One of those wins was vs. a I-AA team.
And we nearly lost two more games to JV-level squads.

Performance is about results, not effort (i.e. recruiting classes).

So all the freshmen will come in and we'll win 30 games next year?
Okay

Everyone likes Autry personally. By all accounts he’s a great guy who has been a tremendous member of the Syracuse community for years.

He also seems to be very good at recruiting guys to come play for him. Needless to say, that’s critical.

However, this team, right now, is a flaming wreck. I don’t care to parse out specially how much blame goes to the players and how much to the staff. But Autry owns it because that’s what coaches do.

Three games in and I keep hoping that we’ve hit bottom and we’ll begin our improvement with the next game. I’ll keep hoping.

But if I was a betting man, I’d put money on it being more likely we end up with 18 losses than 18 wins.

I just got home from the game. I saw some positives today. We did have a few lock down defensive series. I thought Taylor gave us some real good minutes. He actually rotated on defense to offer help inside. We guard ok out front, but once teams get into the lane we’re cooked. Offensively, we actually played the final fifteen minutes with some purpose. We found our go to guy with JJ. He reminds me a little bit of Westbrook that played for the Lakers. When he gets downhill you’re not stopping him. JJ was great down the stretch. Shout out to our two bigs too. Both had double doubles. Lampkin just sucks people in and then delivers great passes. We finally posted Donnie and Eddie up in the second half. Donnie was flying over everyone for defensive rebounds. They started playing with some emotion and desire late in the second half. Lampkin is a baller. He’s not afraid for big moments and he found his way to the basket in big moments. I’m not sure who was our last player who is a character like Eddie. He gets on the floor. Choppa had a big dive on the floor in ot too. Our two freshmen made their big free throws in overtime. Carlos had a couple of big defensive plays before he fouled out on a couple of mystery fouls. Texas is coming at a good time. We need to find out what we need to do to compete against top teams. These three close games will not hurt us moving forward. Our chemistry looked better today. I’m hopeful this team might eventually get it together.
