Last year I felt like he was always confident and capable when he came off the bench. I just want him to get 5-10 minutes per game and if he’s hot, more than that. Carlos seems overmatched at this level.

Yep. I know the 3 wins this season against cupcakes have been nail biters and the chemistry isn't there yet, but a 20 win season last year with all the turmoil is nothing to sneeze at.

Red's getting put through the ringer while Coach B ran the program into the ground the last several years as some folks were saying "he can do what he wants... he should get the benefit of the doubt...should be able to retire when he wants and on his terms because he built the program.

Thing is, one of those 4 stars isn’t just a 4 star. It’s the son of Carmelo Anthony. The guy with his name on the practice facility. The guy who, presumably, is going to be heavily leaned on as we build an NIL war chest over the next couple years.

Carmelo wants his son to go to SU, and clearly he wants him to play for Red.

So Autry ain’t going anywhere for at least another season after this one.

No. We have seen enough of Cuffe and of Carlos to know that 10 to 15 minutes for them is not good for us. Go with Moore and Taylor at the 2 with JJ at the point.

You can't play 2 guards for 40 minutes. Other guys have to play.

Eddie is one of the worst defensive centers I've ever seen and with our perimeter defense it makes him even worse down there.

This is a very fair response, and an equally fair retort is you never know with a guy who excels at coaching at the mid-major level, because he's never been given the resources to get high-level recruits. But you do know that he can coach. Winning takes care of recruiting, typically.

But like you said, there's no perfect formula.

You hope so; I like your take. But there's a difference between a younger guy in his 30s who can coach players up, versus a guy in his 50s, who is maybe a student of the game, but not a dynamic salesman who can charm recruits.

Nate Oats' recruiting classes at Buffalo were 100 / 89 / 76 / 116. Nate Oats at Alabama in 2024 has the #2 class and is a nc contender.

On the one hand, no school is going to offer a kid $1 million and then bury him on the bench, or not use him how he wants to be used.

On the other hand, a player is going to choose a place he feels is the best fit. By all accounts Nebraska offered McCord more money than SU. But SU offered enough and apparently is letting McCord be a quasi-co-OC this season. I'm assuming that tipped the scales in our favor over the pure cash grab at Nebraska.

Moore gives us another long range threat as well. Helps space the court for the inside-out looks with Lampkin. Nailed that three late in the game when they tried to double Lampkin in the paint. Carlos does not make that shot.
