Syracuse Parts Ways with Adrian Autry [Official]

And yet fired boeheim in the weirdest, oddest and prob most expensive way giving him a no show job

Time for the adults to run the show again.
Not the first person in history to get kicked upstairs. They wanted to show respect even though another school might have handled it differently.

Red had all the resources to be a good coach here. Let’s not act like it was just the predicament he was put in that led to his failure. He failed as a coach period.ram of mid fit toys. And he did a decent job. Year two his NIL budget was like a 3rd graders lunch money. No chance. His final year he was given the resources to be competitive, he just didn’t get it done. Great player great guy, but naive in regard to all the vagaries in volver in head coaching. Completely different landscape that he was familiar with. I for one hope he gets another chance at some point. Thanks Red.
That’s not 100% true. His first year he had a t

As I laid out in the Caparelli thread, this always seemed the best way to transition.

JW Fire Autry

Introduce a new AD a day or 2 later. Maybe early next week.

New AD doesn’t get asked unless questions about Autry and his hands are clean.

He then starts the interview process with JW and start the legitimate interviews as soon as possible.

I'm wrong about things all the time, but I can say in good faith that the Autry hire felt awful to me from Day 1. It just felt like the laziest possible move we could have made. "Oh, well he's on campus and already here, let's just give him a chance and see what happens."
I really would have preferred a few less likes on a post that started with "I'm wrong about things all the time."

It didn't feel right, felt lazy and hasty. I had my doubts as it never made sense, but I thought there was a chance, not necessarily a high chance, but a chance that it could work. He moved from zone to man, he was engaged as a Recruiter, he was not pushing 80 years old and could put in the time and grind, he retained the 6 man fr class, added JJ and Chance (and a transfer from Kansas in Cuffe) and thought maybe he can reignite things, but he lost Jessie Edwards and the first year came up short. Then lost Judah, Maliq, Quadir and Gerry left (maybe a bigger impact than we realized) and it was over.

Yup, I didn't love the hire, but was willing to give him a chance and after he moved quick on the portal his first year and brought in athletes, I was hopeful. But even during his one good year it was apparent that he either didn't understand the modern college game or how to coach his guys up. He didn't learn from Year 1 and doubled down on his mistakes and here we are.
