I assume the loser of the Rickie/JW battle transfer out in the spring. They both are on similar timelines regarding eligibility I don't see the loser sticking around to sit behind the other.

That would be premature. You don't know if a guy has it until he's playing live competition. And you are always only 1 play away from coming in, if you're the back-up. I would roll with it for a season and see how it goes. You seldom gain anything by transferring as a young unproven player.

No, he redshirted and was in an intense battle with Kevin Johnson for QB1. IIRC, PP didn't publicly announced McNabb as game 1 starter until a week or two before kickoff.

Good stuff on this board today. Couple highlights I saw.

-Nixon is the man and can figure out pretty much whatever the offense needs to run based on whoever ends up on the roster.

-Spring portal will thin the crowd

-The O Line upgrades are more important than looking for another Kyle

You could do that for every single starter who takes over for a graduating Star, at every position.

College football is all about excellent coaching, developmental progress and young guys taking over for experienced players who graduate.

One if the guys could just flat out be great and take the job, like McNabb. Or we could really struggle at positions where we thought we were well set up.

Sometimes guys surprise you. Nobody would have been shocked if highly recruited running back Diamond Ferri became a good running back... Who would have called it he would become an all league defensive back after spinning his wheels at RB for two seasons?

Dude went from bench warmer to getting snaps in the NFL at his second position.

We have no idea what's going to happen next year. But like the 90s, we have lots of big strong fast guys on our team.

Including three really good recruits at QB.

We also won with a defense that showed almost no ability to stop anybody so I suspect a lot of our defensive leaders are a lot more replaceable than fans think they are.

And I don't think it's an ERob thing because the same guys (sans Lewis/Diggs) got absolutely shredded by VT (38), UNC (40), FSU (41), and USF (45) the year prior.

I don't mean to crap on the players but I don't think people should necessarily be freaking out about getting younger/less experienced but more athletic given the track record of our defense the last 2 years.

That’s certainly one way to look at it but these guys are going to the league. They are obviously good players. There are a LOT of holes to fill for next year

My first 2 Spring Games I went to I sat next to Marvs mom and dad and the 2nd Donovans. All by accident. Marvs mom looked so nervous and man was Marv skinny and his dad was a pretty good size.

Those 2 redshirt freshmen certainly worked out quite well.

Peyton is from New Orleans though.

For a former captain at Texas A&M, in my opinion, Diggs was a huge let down. How many times did he fail to maintain the edge and gave up a 20 yard sweep around his end? He didn't get enough sacks to offset how bad he was at position defense against the run.

I have to agree with this. Diggs had at least 1 game (maybe more) where his name didn’t show on the stat sheet once. I found that really hard to understand. He definitely made some big plays for us but I admit I expected more of an impact from him.

I know I was the guy who was freaked out about our QB2 situation going into 2024 and we got lucky with Kyle playing almost every snap so the freak out was wasted. However, is anyone else concerned that our entire QB room combined has thrown 11 career college passes?
