Syracuse QB in 2025

I know I was the guy who was freaked out about our QB2 situation going into 2024 and we got lucky with Kyle playing almost every snap so the freak out was wasted. However, is anyone else concerned that our entire QB room combined has thrown 11 career college passes?

I have to agree with this. Diggs had at least 1 game (maybe more) where his name didn’t show on the stat sheet once. I found that really hard to understand. He definitely made some big plays for us but I admit I expected more of an impact from him.

How much of that is coaching and scheme? We can probably say the entire line had issues if you step back and look at the bigger picture.

Yes, and I’m sure 1/3 of the D1 programs are in a similar spot. It’s just the name of the game in CFB. It’s all about depth, development and reloading. That’s what Fran was brought here to do. I feel much more confident in this situation than in the past.

I am going to try and put a silver linings spin on this situation. We have a great competition and great coaches, I think we will have a really good college QB emerge from the pack at some point. It may take till halfway through the season to see it, and that will be super exciting for 2026/27 future. It’s all apart of the process!

In addition, getting McCord was a one off, Fran has known the kid for 16 years. Those won't come around that often. Do people see what these established QB's are making in the portal? Next year there very well could be a lot of hand wringing around here as we try to keep the same starting QB that nobody seems comfortable giving an opportunity. I honestly don't think it will matter much with the schedule but you see my point. We are going to start a QB with very limited game reps, it happens all the time. Both these kids have earned the spot they are in, they will have a shot to be a legit P4 starter, I imagine one will step up and be fine. Are they Kyle? Absolutely not but they should get better as the season goes on. I expect the Tenn game to be a disaster though, tough way to get started for anyone

I thought it was Tommy Frazier.

He went Nebraska, so McNabb came to SU. I could be wrong.

Edit: Couldn’t remember for certain and had to look it up. Frazier was already at Nebraska (93-96) when McNabb picked SU. So I’m not sure who else was competing with him. Maybe it was Iverson. I just don’t remember that at all.

The way I remember it...which is likely wrong, but Donovan was being recruited more as a defensive back. He chose Syracuse as we were giving him a chance to play QB.

I have killed soooo many brain cells...so this could be a figment of my imagination that I am too lazy to fact-check.,

and we took Collins. I think at this point we'd only jump in the QB market if Angeli became available.
