Syracuse releases its Week 1 depth chart.

Starting DL is pretty small by modern standards.

Less then thrilling lineup to be honest. Was hoping they would move Isiah Johnson back to DE he looked pretty good there last year.

chris carlson‏@ccarlsononSU now
Also interesting to see Wayne Williams on the No. 2 line at DT, ahead of Ryan Sloan. Marcus Coleman listed as starter at DT.

If WW was behind Sloan, I'd be extremely disappointed.

H9 Brisly Estime (5-9, 209, Sr.)
1 Ashton Broyld (6-3, 223 Sr.)

weird screwup on the classes.
And is Fundaburk a Sr? I thought he was a Jr. Seems to be more than one error in the class of players.

Nick Robinson should crack that two deep OL, if/when he can get healthy.

One last peculiar depth chart note: Brisly Estime is listed at 209 pounds. He was at 172 on the pre-training camp depth chart.

Stephen Bailey‏@Stephen_Bailey1 43s
FWIW: Adonis Ameen-Moore is also listed at 260, and I've been told he's closer to 230 now.

Flemming must have had a heck of a camp.

There may be a depth issue at tackle so I'm not sure what to make of it but McGloster backing up Hickey is something to watch. McGloster was the CList kid from NJ who we offered and brought in two summers ago. I'm not even sure he ever played football before, a year maybe? The buttgers faithful laughed about that for days.

He was the game one starter last year.

Not that much of a surprise.

i feel like we're using the nova game to give certain players (both experienced and inexperienced) chances. This will give them valuable insight into how guys perform and a rationale for lots of changes if that's what's best before the next game. No downside to Fleming, AAM, etc getting the PT and then adjusting based on however it goes.

Yeah, when I look at that depth chart, except for QB, the line, and H-Back (whatever, that's such a bogus position designation) I like the 2nd teamers more than the 1st teamers.

After 3 years of waiting I am hyped to see him get meaningful carries. You wanna try and tackle him? Go ahead and step up!

I think he will do well this year that he is in such good shape. I think he already has the skill set and just needed the motivation to get in "football" shape. I have said it before, I think he will have a great year. Excited to watch him carry the ball again.

What a difference five years has made for this program. How many guys who didn't make the two deep would have been starters on Marrone's first team?

I know it's game week, but this season can't start soon enough.

Here's the difference, the starting QB was a free agent sub 6 ft four year BB player who lost his starting spot his senior year.
