New York State produces some nice talent, yet, the top talent isn't coming to Syracuse. We just watched Notre Dame destroy our team, one out of the top three scorers in that game, Citron, is from New York State and one is from New Jersey(Hildalgo). The 6-5 freshman post player, was from Long Island. An ESPN top 10 , 6-4 post player in the 2026 class is playing in Queens, yet Syracuse wasn't even in her TOP 16 choices!! A top 40 player, that we have been recruiting since she was in the 8th grade, from upstate NY...gets a late offer from an SEC school and cancels her official visit to the Cuse! This should sound a huge alarm to all who care about Syracuse Women's Hoops. It isn't the lack of of recruiting ability of our staff, tired of hearing that. Coach Jack has a very compelling story that I think resonates with young women. Syracuse is a great school. The difference I think now, is cash money and how much are you able to pay. Look at the University of Virginia, an Alum, who is a successful businessman and husband of Serena Williams, just pledged a multi year, multi million dollar gift to the Virginia Women's basketball program, the largest in the history of their program. The ACC now has SMU and Stanford, which just signed a top 5 recruiting class, in the mix. Syracuse needs a significant financial commitment to it's team if we want to remain competitive. Multi million dollars donors make that task much easier, but in the absence of that, we can start small, with each fan committing to give something every month. It looks like we have to play "small ball" here in the 315 until we can convince larger donors to contribute. The bottom line is the type of team that we want to see on the floor, will depend on how much we are willing to give! This is going to be the new reality in all of college sports.

The money is all that matters in college athletics anymore. Pay me or i will go elsewhere. Thats it. Its no longer college sports. Its semi pro ball

Julia Scott is a 6-3 post player from New York with an offer from Oklahoma. Illinois, Clemson, Michigan and Providence have all offered. Cuse has an offer in as well. Why can't we keep a player like this in New York?
There is enough talent in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania to supply Syracuse with big time talent. We just need to close!!

If by close you mean more NIL money for the team you are correct
We did great recruiting until NIL
If you don’t have the funds you don’t get the kids, no matter what you selling

Sad but true. Players equating how much you want or need them by how much they are paid.

Agree 100%..but so many people posting, don't want to admit that. They would rather blame coaching!

You can tell on the womens side that it is far from coaching.

Coach Jack just needs the $$$.

Going toe to toe with UNC, playing a much better all around games down the stretch shows you the impressive coach that Coach Jack is.

Progress has been shown with this team even with not having "elite" talent.

A good coach can take his’n and beat your’n or take your’n and beat his’n.
Just win baby!

Let's talk Women's Hoops: Julia Scott, a big time player right in our backyard, doesn't even have Syracuse in her top 3! She is looking at Notre Dame, Stanford I think...and Clemson!!!!! Clemson is in on two of our top rated recruits and we are not even in. the conversation!. That fence around New York...has huge hole in it. It appears that we are going to miss out on the top 20-30 players, have better chances in the top 40- 100 players, and will have to look for gems in the transfer portal. Having said all that, I think we did a great job in the Portal and this year's Team looks to be really exciting with some tall and talented players...

It has to be a rebound year or it will continue. Hometown, State matters but only until a certain point, in the end wins and results matter the most.

Money has always mattered. Before it was an open market, only the super prospects got big bucks. Now, everyone gets paid.
Fran has seemingly done a great job with “ we might not have the most $$, but you will also get this (whatever he sells them
on) from me, which no one else can give you. It’s up to the coaches to set that distinction.

The loss of Madison Francis likely due to Q, that's when she was first recruited. It gave plenty of time for other programs to more in. while we transition. She developed a good relationship/rapport would Purcell and that's why she decided to go there

Yes, the recruitment started with Q, when I think she was only in 8th grade. We were on her early. Mississippi State came in LATE...only a few months before she signed. I don't drop names...but I trust the source of my information and it had something to do with the financial package...she had an Official visit scheduled for I think last August or September, but cancelled. If things don't work out in Mississippi, we would love to have her come back home...and in this climate...it is always good to keep the porch light on!!
