It's a bizarre program really. In a powerhouse conference, have had some truly elite players... but never seem to put a season of note together and playing second fiddle in their own state for 2+ decades at this point. I didn't understand why Spurrier couldn't build a powerhouse there much less why they haven't found a coach since to do so either. Not sure if they're the little brother in every family or the red headed step child but they SHOULD be able to be nationally relevant every few years. What do ATM, Ole Miss, etc have that they don't?

Would mean he quit on his team 2 seasons in a row. He would enjoy the bench for the season, not save eligibility, and have fun in next seasons portal landing at South Carolina... State. USCe certainly won't wait for him another year... they barely were interested now and only because they struck out.

I cannot imagine he's blind to that nor would his agent, who's trying to make bank off him, want that potential outcome to become a reality.

A player can announce/sign with any team after the portal closed IF they were in the portal before it closed. In this case he signed with SU already, but rumor has it that he wants out of the SU contract now. In the wild west of college football now, not sure what will happen here.
