Tebow makes a lot of people look stupid

Are you really making fun of how people look and dress? LOL

People hate on Tebow so much because of religion, which I do not understand at all. He gives thanks to God, and is one of the best role models this country has. So what what if he's not a prototypical NFL QB? He wins games and he doesn't: beat his girlfriend, shoot himself, get shot by his mistress, get DWI's, get arrested for drug or weapons like half the NFL seems to do.

Look who is the first to bring up religion again...the people trying to defend him from non-existent attacks on his religion. Nobody was talking about it, leave it alone. No clue why people that support his religious zeal are always so hot to make that the topic. You know people are going to bite, but why the fishing all the time.

It's annoying and that's half the reason people hate him - because of his supporters that feel it so necessary to explain to everyone that they don't root for him because he loves god.

As a Chargers fan I'm thrilled by the playoff win. Tebow is awful, and the longer he's around the more handicapped the Broncos will be imo. Who knows, maybe he proves me wrong, but I just don't see it working out long term.

Is he serviceable in a gimmicky type way - sure. Even a pitcher that goes 3-13 puts together a gem once in awhile against the Yankees or the Red Sox, it doesn't make him an all-star. On any given day the dude might complete 10 passes for 300 yards, but this is the same guy that completed, what, six passes in 120 minutes against the Chiefs?

Defense will have to carry the Broncos...we'll see how far.

I think that there are many people who like Tebow solely because of his outspoken faith, some of whom don't even follow football. This is in contrast to a player like Aaron Rodgers who is just as much a born again believer in Jesus as Tebow, but is more private with his faith.
I personally know many of these people and to an extent am one myself, though I follow football almost as a religion itself, (pun intended). I believe that many of these Tebow supporters wrongfully assume that Tebow haters hate Tim because of his religion given the fact that they only like Tebow themselves because of his religion. That said, do you think it is fair to hate Tebow because of the actions of his supporters, which you just stated was half the reason why people hate Tebow?

Tim Tebow is my favorite player in the NFL right now for a few reasons. Ill also say I like Tom Brady alot for some of the same reasons. Tebow showed that Gator fire on Sunday which is what made me love the guy. He has passion and a unique skillset. He is a leader and is clutch. Heart of a lion etc etc etc, lots of the things I see in Brady. From a football standpoint I root for him...ill absolutely admit what makes me really back the guy is his off the field actions.

There are a ton of Christians in pro-sports so to say its a God thing is stupid. Im pretty sure Mike Tomlin the head coach of the team he just beat is a born again christian so lets just stop with that. Tebow, unlike many players who are more private in their faith believes all honor goes to God and is ultra vocal about it. He doesnt push his views on people as much as an obligation to himself and his faith to honor God in everything he does, if you take that as him pushing his views on you then thats on you. Yes, he did do a commercial for anti-abortion, but he was also a child who was urged by certain doctors to be aborted so he does have a connection to that aside from his faith.

Bottom line is the dude is a stand up guy. If you give me football reasons for not liking him thats fine and I have no issues with you except that I think he will succeed and you dont, however the people who want to rip him for his religious views disgust me. I remember people during the draft making fun of him for being a virgin supposedly, who cares!? IMO, hes the type of man I wish I was...and honestly, I think thats why most people with inferiority complexes hate him.

I like claims like this. Unless you know someone personally you have no idea what kind of person they are. You can certainly know what kind of person they project themselves as but in reality no one is who they claim to be.

Yes, it's perfectly fair. People have all sorts of random reasons they hate (not literal hate - nobody is wishing these people ill) professional athletes and most of them have nothing to do with who they are off the field. I hate Roethlisberger because he rapes women (perfectly good reason), and I hate LeBron James though for no good reason at all (media coverage, whatever, etc...). It's just part of being a fan. The Tebow fans think that every criticism is somehow directed at him because of religion though - they're nuts.

No we dont, at least I dont. I fully recognize that people can point of deficiencies in his game and get annoyed at his "unwarranted" media coverage. However, you also have alot of people who take numerous cheapshots at his faith. Those are the people who bother me, but you want to tell me hes not good and he doesnt deserve all this hype, fine, Im not getting bothered by that criticism. Tebow haters want to act like all Tebow fans make it about religion, not all do just like not all Tebow haters are anti-christian faith bashers.

Maybe when Tebow throws down some Matthew 6: 5-6 on his eye black I'll come around...:)

Okay, before the two of you two went off on page 1, who was talking about his religion?

Tebow supporters have to bring it up - it's like an obsession.

Ok whatever dude, correct I dont know him personally. Mother Theresa is no saint because she "couldve" been a meth addict crackhead who sold children into sex slavery bla bla bla.

Do you need me to list the 500 comedians who make fun of him for being a "goody goody" Christian? Or fans of opposing teams yelling "Jesus cant save you from the Raiders". Etc...I never said you are doing this, Im saying in general, alot of people do mock his faith. If you cant see that then you have some serious blinders on.

Dude - I am a Tebow fan. How did you get from my post that I am not a Tebow fan.
I am a born again Christian homeschooling father. I have rooted for Tebow since he went to Florida because of his faith and the fact that he was a homeschooler. My son has a Tebow UF jersey, which is the only exception I have granted him from not wearing only SU jerseys. My son wore "JOHN 3:16" on his eye black in Pop Warner this year in honor of Tebow, until the refs threated him with a penalty unless he removed it.
I have countless friends who follow Tebow solely because he is a Christian, so this is not stupid, it's the truth. I myself follow Tebow in large part for this reason. If you don't think that a large part of Tebow's followers are following him because of his outspoken faith, you are simply wrong.

Fair enough.

Huh, I agree with you. I said "Its not a God thing" when people think hes winning because God is helping him or make jokes about that.

Although I will say the weird happenings, throwing for 316, 31.6 per and a 31.6 4th quarter Nielson rating with a Halo formed above the stadium after they shot canons off when Tebow scored is a bit...ummm strange lol.

I don't know if your talking about me, but I did not bring up religion. Millhouse's original post mentioned that people dislike Tebow because of his religion and because of being NFL meatheads who don't like different styles. It looks like Millhouse has edited his original post and has now taken out the reference to religion.

Just liking your post isnt enough. You are dead on! Oh noooo, he gives glory to Jesus waaaahhhhh. We need our role models to be attention whores and criminals.

Tebow is an attention whore. That's why he "gives glory to Jesus" and let's everyone know it every possible second. He's prostelizing, which is kind of the definition of being an attention whore. That's the point of why he does what he does.

Most of the deeply religious people I know pray over life and death issues. He prays over touchdowns.

Well if he did edit it, ill say it..."some" people do dislike him for his religion. I have friends who constantly make anti-christian remarks about him. Read an internet messageboard (not this one) for 2 seconds and you will see people frothing at the mouth like demons ripping into Tebow over his outspoken faith.

I wasn't referring to you. :)

I'm saying the people that say it's all about religion always make it about religion - even if it isn't. I post on other forums and there are plenty of threads making fun of him for that stuff, I don't really care about that either to be honest.

However, even if people say he's not very good because he's a RB playing QB (and it's perfectly on topic of his skill set)you still get the Tebow-supporters interjecting religion by accusing everyone of criticising him because of his faith.

No, no, no...

He believes his calling in life is the same as the calling is supposed to be for every Christian and that is to spread the word of Jesus. He does this through football. He considers this to be his pulpit and if he never makes it as a QB he will use some other form as his pulpit. His father is a preacher and in some ways, so is Tim. Sorry if that offends you, but he is NOT an attention whore.

You tried to steal my Matthew 6: 5-6 eye-black joke - although without the smiley face your post makes it seem less like a joke. :)

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Or he could use Matthew 5:11.:)

Comparing Tebow to Mother Theresa? That is a new one.

It doesn't really offend me. I don't get it, but it doesn't offend me. By calling for glory to Jesus he's calling (begging really) for attention to himself. If he gets attention for himself he gets attention to god. His intentions may be honorable, but he's not really any different than Kim Kardasian doing something to stay in the news.
