Tenn QB Nico Iamaleava transferring to UCLA

woof...

would hate for Pena to be in a similar position...

I don't think he will be, but I would not hate it if he was.

If you accept a deal in December and want to renegotiate it in April (assuming that's what happened, as I believe you are too), then any loss of income is on you.

Nico might end up being the bird in the hand pioneer that college sports probably needs.

Bald people think they'll grow hair

Asses that stick out to there

Apparently, part of UT's frustration with Nico was that he often failed to show up for events related to his NIL deal.
Ah…. He failed to show up to his job keeping the alligators out of the stadium.

It still a mess in Knoxville. Anyone who comes to Knoxville will be no better than Nico, he will be leaving his team to take the UT spot leaving his old team in a bad spot. While many teammates will justify the action, and some with merit especially if moving up a level or gaining a significant NIL increase, nevertheless, he left his team in bas circumstances. Even hi s new teammates will be skeptical to some extent.
Given the events of Pena, this is why casting stones is naive in modern day college football.

pena did not behave in the same manner. The two, while having similarities in outcome were handled in different way by the parties. Had Peña behaved as Nico behaved, I would be critical of him, also.

Sources on Rocky Top Wednesday with direct knowledge told FootballScoop that Iamaleava’s missed practice last Friday was merely the latest – and the final – instance that Iamaleava no-showing the Vols would be tolerated. They said Iamaleava had even missed practices without explanation during Tennessee’s 2024 season, in which the Vols made their first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff.
They also indicated that Iamaleava left “several hundred thousand dollars on the table” from his Tennessee contract due to not “showing up or fulfilling his appearance agreements and autograph sessions

I don’t think we need to worry about that. I heard a former UT player talking on a radio show and it sounds like Nico’s dad was a major distraction to his son and the UT staff, etc. Apparently he’s been like this for as long as Nico’s been playing organized sports. No way Fran would put up with this guy. If he took Nico, he would insist on muzzling dad, which won’t happen.

This guy also said that dad was shopping Nico since the OSU game, something Hueppel told Lanning when he called. The situation came to a head when Nico followed his dad’s order, skipped practice, and ghosted the staff. Hueppel ended the relationship right there. Trust was lost. Dad did Nico no favors.
Dad did not teach his son anything good but in todays world its what have u done for me lately or not keeping your word. word is your bond
