Tennessee Gameday...

I think our starting WRs, RB and TE are as talented as any team in the ACC and most of the SEC. If our oline is legit, we are going to score points.
I would expect it's going to be loud in Atlanta today. Our new oline will need to be disciplined.

Some thoughts on the game…

UT has a great offensive scheme. Heumpel is a great offensive mind. He will have them playing fast and put a lot of pressure on our defense to make plays in space. We are going to have to play press coverage against big, very fast athletes. We are going to have to tackle well, line up properly and avoid penalties.

I can’t see us holding them to less than 20 points. That is the best case scenario. In order to do that, we are going to have to force some turnovers, put pressure on Aguilar in passing downs and do a reasonable job shutting down their running game. It is a lot to ask for a defense with a lot of new faces. Especially in an opening game, at the neutral site where 95% of the fans will be hostile.

We have to be able to run the ball. We have to control the ball for extended periods of time. We have to make some big plays on offense and at least hold our own in special teams.

Angeli is going to have to rescue some plays with his feet and be able to hit receivers running for his life. The OL has to give him time and open some holes for the RBs.

It is a lot to ask.

My head says it isn’t going to happen but I am an irrational fan and in my head, we have a chance. I hope we play well and neither team suffers any serious injuries. Go Cuse! War Damn Otto!
I'm with you most of the way. If Tennessee suffers some injuries, I won't feel all that bad.

Maybe helping out the hometown kid and trying to make a point for recruiting purposes?
Far from it. He’s from Canada. The high school he was at is a prep school up in the North Georgia mountains close to the North Carolina state line. He wasn’t really a known name in Georgia High School Football until his Syracuse official visit photos were posted. You know, the one’s where he looks like the Incredible Hulk in a football uniform.

How many fans does the stadium hold?
How full will it be?
What percentage will be SU fans vs UT fans?
It's smaller than Neyland and only 3 hrs from Knoxville on opening weekend of "Football time in Tennessee." Yes, that quote is a thing here. Some famous old local announcer started it, and now it's part of tradition. It'll be a packed house with 80-90% Tennessee fans, practically a home game for them. Think us in the Garden when we were good at basketball, except maybe moreso.

I am also interested in seeing how are players conditioning comes into play today. The bootcamp style building strength and endurance and fresh rotation on the dline can really help slow down the Vols run game.

Ah yes. Sorry. I’m dumb…

If I recall, ND really wanted him and they were our main competitor.

Stopped watching his show a while back.

I really didn't miss Pat McAfee

Surprised no Ross. He is unstoppable on ncaa 2026!

Yeah that was the biggest surprise for me too. I wonder if there's something else going on there outside of talent. I struggle to see him as...WR7!!!...if he's healthy/in good standing/available/etc.

Good morning from the Desert!

I shouldn’t have listened to Feinbaum yesterday. Apparently, they are 3 deep with 6’4, 250 pounders who run 4.4 forties. And we have a blind dude, a guy with MS as running back, and girl at wideout.

They actually had a lot of good things to say about Syracuse, Fran and the emerging culture.

LFGO!

Just checking in to say I am thankful for this board…been coming here (and previous iterations) for years. Always nice to know there’s a bunch of Syracuse football diehards out there like me.

I don’t know how it will look today and we need to remember not to get too high or too low after this game. Go out there and give them hell. LFGO
