Honestly, I was more upset with the play in the first half when we didn't go for it on 4th and 7 [or whatever] inside the 30. Ended up resulting in a net 12 yard punt.
But fundamentally, I disagree with the premise of this post. There are plays every game that you can second guess any coach in any college game.
The people calling for him to be fired and jumping off the bandwagon are out of their minds. The players we've recruited these past few years--when the program has been climbing back from it's lowest point--are heads and shoulders bigger / faster / more athletic than before. Just imagine what we'll be able to accomplish on the recruiting trail once we string together a couple of consecutive bowl appearances, the first of which will be this year. And in case some of those people calling for Marrone to be canned didn't notice, we went toe to toe for most of the game against the #2 team in the country. The same team that some of those aforementioned posters suggested last week would lay 80 on us, or beat us by 50.
The transformation on the field this year compared to last year is start and palpable. I think that some people [not you, because I know you understand] don't fully appreciate how lousy we were, and how far we've come.
