there are some nice athletic QB's but you cant run a consistent offense thru a michael vick type even in the pro's , they need some kid of QB skill set other than run around and hope the D falls apart.

I dont know but TT had almost 650 yds of offense scored 35 and lost by28, on the other hand Baylor wins by 28 giving up 650 but gains 670..

Don't know anything about 1964, but I agree with the unwatchable part. It isn't football to me. Defense should not be optional.

No way. There are a few really good teams in the AAC, but they're not competing with the best teams in the ACC and on the flip side, the ACC's worst teams would beat the AAC's worst teams.

I just love the fact that as it stands right now, Syracuse is 1-0 in the ACC and has no reason that they can't run the ACC table. them all, especially Clumpzen.

There are very few "great" defenses in college football. The ACC has some good ones, and some terrible offenses.

The encouraging thing is that these days good offenses beat good defenses.

Duke, BC, VT, Pitt, offensses are all struggling. Alot of its due to having key injuries.

an avg offense could be top 2-3 in the ACC. most of them hope for a big play because they cant string a decent series of plays together.

The answer to the question is simple: the ACC is a much better football conference than most people think, as Big 10 blogger Frank the Tank once said. VaTech (without QB Michael Brewer) hammered Purdue who in turn nearly beat Michigan State (and Wake Forest (without QB John Wolford) nearly beats Indiana who in turn nearly beats Ohio State). I know this "transitive property" jazz is limited and teams match up in unique ways but still ... Also, you can't judge by the FSU (and Clemson) scores either b/c the other ACC teams treat those games as their Super Bowl and always "man up" for them. If you are a top 10 ranked team you will always have a target on your back. Final point: the ACC is 2nd only to the SEC in sending players to the NFL and most of the former ACC players are successful in pro football.

I'm not sure if they are great, but with the exception of Clemson and FSU recruiting superior athletes, and Georgia Tech running a superior system (though they are down this year), I'd say the defenses are definitely better. To me, some of this springs from geography trying to keep up with the SEC who still mostly play football the "0ld fashioned way." Jeez, look at Miami trying to slog it out when they are geographically located with the best high school athletes in the Country. Imagine them implementing what Oregon does.

The Big 12, is the opposite. The offenses are way ahead of the defenses due to Texas pumping out players that grow up in wildly efficient and prolific systems. The ability to defend really suffers (is there a plus defense anywhere in that league).

This would have been a great year to play FSU in the Dome. Though, everyone would be talking about how unimproved FSU is and nothing about SU winning.
