The all-inclusive Rutgers dumpster fire thread...

Looking at the offensive numbers Rutgers put up today takes a little sting out of our loss.

Welcome to the Chris Ash era folks!

Ash seems to be following the Shafer model, defensive minded head coach who hires a young recruiting WR coach to run a "spread offense".

I was on their board a bit today, looks like the Ash honeymoon is over. 3 completions is INSANE

Great comparison except Ash has to play a B1G schedule instead of the tomato cans that Shady built his rep on.
Rutgers Football Scheduler:
Duties include scheduling Tomato cans for opponents.

Success:
Indiana wears red and white, ergo: tomato can.
Join B1G: Four built-in tomato cans: Indiana, Nebraska, Wish, tOSU.
Throw in green, because tomatoes grow on vines and vines are green, ergo: Add Michigan State to Tomato cans list.

With five tomato cans in the conference, how could Rutgers go wrong!

Methinks someone misunderestimated* the definition of "tomato cans" when evaluating the B1G invite.

*HT to SNL's Bushism.

LOL - Just read this:

According to FootballOutsiders.com, Rutgers ranks 64th out of 65 P5 schools.
According to KenPom.com, Rutgers ranks 65th out of 65 P5 schools.

On their board, they feel that because Wisconsin was able to be competitive with Michigan, that means they have a chance.

While not quite as bad, our board reads like that quite often.

This gem was hidden in that article:

Rutgers averaged 34,168 tickets scanned per home game (announced average: 49,188) in 2012 compared to 33,104 (announced average: 47,723) last season. Scan numbers for this season are not yet available.

So they have about 15K phantom fans.

Awesome! Explains a lot!
