The all-inclusive Rutgers dumpster fire thread...

Ok, so what’s the draw for Monroe? Opportunity to work for a scumbag?
Not sure what he makes here, but wasn't Fran making $700k, $750k as a DB Coach at Rutgers?

If Monroe is at $500k, that's a big bump

The dimwits on this web site think Monroe is a candidate. They also are suggesting Charlie Partridge, the current DC at Ole Miss. Yes, why not take a $500K cut in pay, a major demotion in job responsibilities and a huge drop off in quality of football program to coach a last place team with no fans and one of the most disliked coaches in college football?

No doubt Monroe would be a dream hire for this troubled program.

Given Nick just got a promotion to defensive passing game coordinator, I think he is already in the $750K range. Based on what I am seeing, it looks like Rutgers is looking to cut their coaching staff salary pool, not grow it. But I agree, if Schiano can get the money, he will try and steal Nick. He knows he needs help and getting Nick might help him survive for another year.

Fran Brown was lured from Rutgers to UGA for 50k. Read into that what you want. it certainly is a huge jump in program stature, but the fact that he couldn’t get more $ makes me think everyone in coaching circles knew he wanted out of Rutgers at all costs.

He had no leverage to get more $, but Georgia knew they didn’t need to pay him more and could still get a very solid recruiter.

I believe Fran got a 75k raise (675k to 750k). Hard to turn that down from the national champion.

I heard 2nd hand that the coaching room is absolutely miserable and everyone wants out.

Its hard to tell 2nd hand if that’s different from any other losing program. I’m sure coaches at Cuse have some bad stories from the past few years.

Here is a good article explaining why Schiano failed so completely in the NFL, and why he is so disliked by everyone he comes into contact with. He is too toxic to succeed anywhere.

Fran was scheduled to get $700k this year and he owes 140k penalty for escaping Rutgers.

Brown was scheduled to make $700,000 in 2022 after receiving a raise and contract extension last offseason. He will owe Rutgers a $140,000 termination penalty, per the terms of his contract.

Fran would have left for the same money as at RU
This is a resume builder move and a smart one at that

I'm kind of impressed that the article didn't include Bill Bellichick, he's been known to coach a defense or two and develop players, as well as win a game here and there. Kudos for the self-restraint by this writer.

If Belichick wanted to add a NCAA championship to his resume what better place to go as DC than Rutgers?

Delusional rutgers people as usual. They think Partridge will be interested in leaving a defensive co-coordinator position at Ole Miss to coach at rutgers. Shady is like Vince Lombardi to New Jersey people. It cracks me up. The guy has never won anything significant.

It’s all relative. They sucked for 100 years. Then Schiano got them to the brink of mediocrity. It was a huge jump for them.
