The all-inclusive Rutgers dumpster fire thread...

Why did you guys paint a big red "R" on the Dome floor for one of your home games? Everyone in the crowd is wearing orange, so why the red "R"? ;)
Why Rutgers made #5 on the list? You answered it.

It never fails, Rutgers keeps giving even when there is nothing going on.

Change the "o" to and "i".

While the basis for the thread is a good season, 7-1-1, 100+ years ago, the story is within the story.

The schedule/records is as follows:

1917 (7-1-1)
9/29 Ursinus W 25-0
10/6 Fort Wadsworth W 90-0
10/13 at Syracuse L 14-10
10/20 at Lafayette W 33-7
10/27 at Fordham W 28-0
11/3 West Virginia T 7-7
11/10 Springfield W 61-0
11/17 League Isl. Marines W 27-0
11/24 Newport NR W 14-0

Just look at that schedule! And they still could not beat WVU! It was a tie. A quote from the thread: "Damn! Even back in 1917 we couldn't beat West Virginia!"

And the pièce de résistance (insert your crappy French accent): You guessed it! Syracuse was the team that soiled their record. Another quote from the thread: "Only gave up 28 points all season long? That’s some defense."

No recognition of their sole opponent that beat them or that scored half of all the points scored on them the entire season. No worries, we know.

The moral of the story: Rutgers is gonna Rutgers. Even when reminiscing a glorious time in their illustrious brilliant mediocre non-descript history, Syracuse ruins their day in the sun.

Their shocking upset victory over Ursinus will be remembered forever. Rutgers was 'ranked' 17th by one metric. Syracuse was 6th and WVU 13th.

Paul Robeson was on that 1917 team. He was only the 3rd African American admitted to Rutgers in 1915. Was an AA in football and was their class valedictorian.

He was their first, last, and only great player.

The labor group says that since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the university has laid off 20% of its adjunct faculty, asked other unions to accept furloughs and declared a fiscal emergency while money is used to subsidize the athletic department.

A very under performing athletic department too

The billions of dollars of NJ taxpayer money that have been thrown away trying to get Rutgers to field a decent footbal program is staggering. Some problems just are not solvable.

Well said

Regardless of my low opinion regarding Rutgers athletics, I have long been critical of the reckless spending by the Rutgers Athletics Department, as have many others. Most of us understand the principles of "living within our means," a point lost on Rutgers' administration. It is long overdue that someone holds Rutgers a countable for their reckless, and may I say useless, spending.

Was the esb lit up red that night? O wait there was no esb then.

The indoor gathering was a party lol. 15 players now positive. Espn doesn’t hold back on them in article on homepage. Good, be dumber Rutgers you deserve it
