The all-inclusive Rutgers dumpster fire thread...

FIFY

The first game that people today would recognize as football was Harvard-McGill in 1874.
Shhhhhhhhhh! Don't tell Rutgers, it's all they got in football, that and the ESB was lit up in red when they defeated Louisville. Not much for them to hang a hat on in their more than 150 years of football.

Besides, if Rutgers ever realizes the futility that is their Athletic Department, they may realize losing billions of dollars to be the tomato soup can for the conference isn't cost effective and the B1G may have to add a credible opponent in lieu of padding their stats with Rutgers. Can the CFB world handle such a revelation? ;)

Ahh Rutgers and your $70mil deficit, never change.

Well I can’t get the link to work but it’s on NJ.com

How about this?

Rutgers Spent What?!

Rutgers Athletics’ deficit “topped” $70M for the second time in four years in 2023-24 after the university spent a record $178.3M during the most recent academic year, according to Keith Sargeant of the Newark STAR-LEDGER... Rutgers’ athletics deficit since joining the Big Ten in 2014-15 has reached $438.9M

I guess the old adage is true...

Being the B10 tomato can doesn't pay.

A 438.9 million dollar deficit is a small price to pay for all the championships they won. Oh, wait.

It is not a bad price to pay for all the epic moments they given the fans. Oh, wait.

I guess I will go with one of our Rutger’s contributors. At least it is a small percentage of their budget.

And the SBJ article does not mention the student fees and NJ taxpayer "contribution" to Rutgers' athletics.

You can add student fees of $14,538,668 and NJ Taxpayer funds of $7,485,545 to that deficit, or $92MM deficit!

Can Elon DOGE Rutgers?
Not sure Elon and his whiz kids can right that ship. There's a lot of corruption from world class corrupt politicians and mobsters.

Shut it down and mothball it. Or, just level it and make it.a playground for kids. Even Jersey kids deserve a park, plus it would save NJ taxpayers millions annually.

Bah ha ha ha!

“As a member of the Big Ten, Rutgers is among the nation’s top public research universities in academics and intercollegiate athletics. Our competitive athletics programs continue to enhance Rutgers’ prominence, raise the university’s global profile, and build community among our current, future, and former students and their families,” university spokesperson Dory Devlin said in a statement to NJ Advance Media. “Our increased investments in Athletics reflect both the university’s commitment to remaining competitive in one of the best athletic conferences in America and the rising costs of travel, salaries, and benefits.

“Rutgers remains committed to, and will continue to expect, responsible investments in Scarlet Knights athletics.”

I think we can make the Playoffs by Rutgeral

This is what we need to do:

  • Win 1 of 3 Difficult Games
    • Ohio State
    • Penn State
    • Oregon
  • Win 5 of 5 50/50 Games
    • Iowa
    • Illinois
    • Minnesota
    • Maryland
    • Washington
  • Win all “Should Win” Games
    • Ohio
    • Miami of Ohio
    • Norfolk State
    • Purdue

RutgersAl is the gift that keeps on giving!
I don't see any of those 50/50 games as 50/50...

LOL.

They aren't going to be close with the difficult games.
0-3
They play Maryland and Iowa at home and the 3 others on the road. They will lose all the road games and split at home.
1-7
Ohio, Miami of Ohio and Purdue (on the road) are all threats. Norfolk is the one program they are clearly better than and can't lose. If you are optimistic for them and say they will win them all,
5-7
But they could lose 3 of them. Realistically, 3-1 in this strength is the most likely outcome.
4-8
That is my prediction for Rutgers for 2025. Extend Schiano. Let's keep chopping like this indefinitely.
