This is an acknowledgement to what this board is to me.

So, ultimately, I found this board roughly 8 years ago when it was over on the $c0ut site. At the time, I looked at it as nothing more than a place to talk about the sports I was so passionate about. There was no other game in town, no place to go to find a decent conversation. Like most here, I started on the syracuse site, and, quickly became extremely frustrated with the amount of trolls that I grew tired of battling daily. Syracusefan was a welcome site. Honestly, I never commented at $yracu$e.com again.

Since then, literally 10's of 1,000's of conversations have taken place in regards to the Syracuse football program alone. And, that's just since my time of coming over! Through this board and its history, I've learned more about the program that I love than anywhere else. There's such a wealth of knowledge in terms of our history and tradition, that sometimes it can be overwhelming. Furthermore, there's a general wealth of knowledge towards college football that is equally astounding. I find myself lucky for discovering a place with so many like individuals with so many vastly different opinions.

The relationships and conversations that were formed here extend far beyond just an internet message board. This board allowed me to meet TexanMark, who graciously offered me the season tickets I had sought after for the previous 10 years. It also allowed me to meet money3189 at the Syracuse Coaches Clinic, whom I never would've known otherwise. Come to find out, Money's cousin Brandon played with me at St. John Fisher, small world. More recently, Rocco and I were able to meet simply through a conversation on the board, now, we've crossed paths multiple times since. And, this past week, thanks again to TexanMark, I was able to meet GoSU96 as well as sutomcat. I've yet to meet CuseLegacy, but honestly, she probably knows more about me than some of my work colleagues. Mostly through conversation, but, be careful because she's a pretty astute sleuth as well! All of these people have been tremendous individuals. Each and every person I've been lucky enough to meet has not disappointed.

Without this board, none of that is possible. Without this board, I would never have mourned for an individual I had never met. Dan Johnson, God rest his soul, was with me for my morning cup of coffee everyday. I miss him everyday when I see the daily articles that Tomcat has so graciously overtaken. Hopefully at the Orangeyes Open this year, I'll be lucky enough to meet some more of you. I'm sure it will be well worth the price of admission.

Very sappy for me, but, after the OrangePack Golf Outing the other day, I just wanted everyone to know how great of a board this is. Hopefully, it will stay that way for a long time to come, which I trust it will. Never in a million years would I imagine meeting somebody in person through the Internet, well, I guess times they are a changin. And, luckily for me, it was for the best.

And just think my wife was freaked out when I let JarheadJim share a motel room for a Cuse game about 10 years ago.

Her words: "what, you are letting some guy called, JarheadJim whom you never met in person, sleep in the extra bed? You are crazy, he is probably some crazy stalker creep.

BTW, she was spot on! :p

Great story.

I look forward to meeting you at the golf tournament - I'll be the sucker playing with DCCuse, JackBauer, and Marsh. I've met DCCuse before but not the others. Like you, I hope to continue meeting people here at various events.

Good stuff man, it's been a blast getting to know you as well. Now we just have to play some golf together with a few of the coaches!

This board is awesome and I am always directing people here for their Cuse sports fix. This is the one-stop shop for all things Syracuse Orange.

The first people I met on this board were TexanMark and Cuseregular during one of the UConn football games while we had field passes behind the endzone. They are good dudes and I've been able to have multiple encounters with Mark since (most recently on Monday at the golf outing where I finally met GoSU96 as well). Since then, I was able to meet several people at one of the Fine Mess Tailgates ... retro44, DCCuse, sutomcat, OrangeXtreme, OrangeOnions, JeremyCuse, Orangeyes and many more. 2 years ago, I was able to go golfing with DCCuse, sutomcat and Orangeyes at my home course. We had a great day and shared some Cuse stories/rumors. All of you are fantastic guys and I'm proud to say I got to meet OE before he was drafted upstairs.

Sorry if I'm missing some of you, but I agree 100% with Finwad32, this place is truly invaluable and very greatly appreciated by all of us!

Thank you to all of you who make this place awesome.

Alright enough of the mushy side, let's go win some football games!!! ;)

great post Fin and I hear you. Before this board we all used to be spaced out all over the campus on game day and it's been great to connect with folk who similarly live and breathe this orange thing. Before in every family and group there'd be one or two die hards and this place has allowed for a melding of all over us which has been great over the years.

Though I don't partake in things here or as many games as much as I once did due to a variety of reasons of life reality reasons pulling me away a bit, I still come here every day and am amazed at what a community this has become. And a perfect example of this worth checking out is on the OT board where posters who often times are at the opposite ends of an issue and going at one another, all contributed in a thread sharing ideas and commisererating on how best to bring up their children. Once again it shows if nothing else we all literally cheer for the same team despite some differences now and again.

This has been what has let this place thrive. Rocco and others sums up things well and hope to see you this fall for sure. Good post.

I still need to meet a lot of you from the board.

Outside of some of the syracuse 2012 graduates (bnoro, black night, etc), I haven't had to change to interact with any.

We need syracusefan.com name t-shirts, name tags, or secret decoder rings. I'm sure I've probably met more folks here than I realize but I'm usually so locked in on the game when I enter the dome that I don't strike up too many side conversations and seek out my board brethren.

Suffice to say, would love to strike up a conversation in person with so many folks I've spoken to on this board.

Good read.

The trolls on the P-S board are great drivers of traffic - away from that site and to this one. I jumped to the self-hosted board back in 2001, prior to Scout and now I'm just hanging around to see what a forum looks like when the team is really good. :D

Looking forward to meeting some new folks at a couple away tailgates this year.

I feel the same way you do about this board and the people that make it real. Frustrated with the PS board, I somehow found this place and started meeting people and chatting with lots of others. There's an amazing array of posters here with vastly different perspectives & experiences which make for fascinating and/or colorful debates. I have season tickets for football this year for the second time since finding this board, due to folks like Texanmark, Tomcat, Dan, Rocco, and many others. This place means a lot to me and I look forward to the DJ golf outing and Fine tailgates so I can put more faces with names as well. I had the good fortune to meet Dan several times and honor his memory and all of you that bring so much passion to SU sports. Special thanks to all of you that make the site work. It's a significant effort and worthy of many kudos.

We've had some private convos in the past. Time to take it to the next level! Which Fine Mess will you be at?

No one taught you the secret handshake?

I jumped on board a few years back after having had enough of the Rivals board (more specifically a douchenozzle named mdb80). I recognized a few names from there when I came here (Crusty, deubs, orijinal). I'm not honestly sure how I discovered it. Since then I started going to the Fine Lot and met a lot of people whose names I promptly forgot! No offense guys! I was able to hook up with the group for an outstanding tailgate at Maryland a couple years back where I introduced my cousin to the board. Now UticaSteve doesn't post much, but he does lurk from time to time. Luckily my nephew, the ticketmeister, the man, the myth, the legend, the new homeowner, Dan Bartlett is on here just as much if not more than I am. I don't think I can take credit for getting him here, but I'm sure glad he made the trip! I'm already looking forward to getting to the Fine Lot and connecting/reconnecting with as many of you reprobates as possible!

Ahem. The second rule of the secret handshake is that you don't post about not talking about the secret handshake.

Now look what you made me do...
Let us now refer to it as "the Physical Greeting whose name shall not be spoken".

To be honest, I'm not big on rules and my attention span was long gone by the time we got to #2.

As it were though, I do recall meeting you during the beat down we laid on WVU a few years back. Never thought I'd meet someone that is as intensely focused on the game as myself and yet you showed an entirely new level. Pretty sure you could melt steel with your game day glare.

My reflections
Tomcat- mean, unfriendly and has no knowledge of SU spots whatsoever
Texas Mark- Rude unlikeable, unorganized and never willing to pitch in on board tailgate events
GOSU96 - spacey no knowledge of football , bleeding heart liberal
UEO- Big Jets fan
cuseguy and su barney - couch potatos that watch games from living room

Some of my friends don't understand when I say I post on a syracuse sports forum

Especially group chats during games

Hard to really explain it to them I guess
