This is an acknowledgement to what this board is to me.
So, ultimately, I found this board roughly 8 years ago when it was over on the $c0ut site. At the time, I looked at it as nothing more than a place to talk about the sports I was so passionate about. There was no other game in town, no place to go to find a decent conversation. Like most here, I started on the syracuse site, and, quickly became extremely frustrated with the amount of trolls that I grew tired of battling daily. Syracusefan was a welcome site. Honestly, I never commented at $yracu$e.com again.
Since then, literally 10's of 1,000's of conversations have taken place in regards to the Syracuse football program alone. And, that's just since my time of coming over! Through this board and its history, I've learned more about the program that I love than anywhere else. There's such a wealth of knowledge in terms of our history and tradition, that sometimes it can be overwhelming. Furthermore, there's a general wealth of knowledge towards college football that is equally astounding. I find myself lucky for discovering a place with so many like individuals with so many vastly different opinions.
The relationships and conversations that were formed here extend far beyond just an internet message board. This board allowed me to meet
TexanMark, who graciously offered me the season tickets I had sought after for the previous 10 years. It also allowed me to meet
money3189 at the Syracuse Coaches Clinic, whom I never would've known otherwise. Come to find out, Money's cousin Brandon played with me at St. John Fisher, small world. More recently,
Rocco and I were able to meet simply through a conversation on the board, now, we've crossed paths multiple times since. And, this past week, thanks again to
TexanMark, I was able to meet
GoSU96 as well as
sutomcat. I've yet to meet
CuseLegacy, but honestly, she probably knows more about me than some of my work colleagues. Mostly through conversation, but, be careful because she's a pretty astute sleuth as well! All of these people have been tremendous individuals. Each and every person I've been lucky enough to meet has not disappointed.
Without this board, none of that is possible. Without this board, I would never have mourned for an individual I had never met. Dan Johnson, God rest his soul, was with me for my morning cup of coffee everyday. I miss him everyday when I see the daily articles that Tomcat has so graciously overtaken. Hopefully at the Orangeyes Open this year, I'll be lucky enough to meet some more of you. I'm sure it will be well worth the price of admission.
Very sappy for me, but, after the OrangePack Golf Outing the other day, I just wanted everyone to know how great of a board this is. Hopefully, it will stay that way for a long time to come, which I trust it will. Never in a million years would I imagine meeting somebody in person through the Internet, well, I guess times they are a changin. And, luckily for me, it was for the best.
