The brag about my kid’s athletic performance thread.

My daughter’s 3rd grade team finally won their first game in three seasons. The game was tied heading into the fourth quarter and my daughter was assigned to cover the other team’s best player. She shut her down and they won by 2.
My daughter is now a starter on the middle school team and she had 13 rebounds (9 in the first half) in a game last week.

My son's JV season went about as expected. They were about .500 (i think). He was 4th on attack as he had a sophomore ahead of him, but saw decent playing time. He had 5 or 6 goals and a few assists. Stick is ridiculous, needs to work on the "killer instinct".

Daughter skipped club season heading into senior year of volleyball, and is working at the gymnastics center she went to as a kid, and refs beach VB at Sharkeys every Friday night.

This fall, we'll report on two volleyball players.

My kid's club volleyball team finished 3rd at the U16 national championships last weekend (over 300 U16 teams were there). Here's a fun highlight video one of his teammates made. My son's one of the middle hitters (#83)

Congrats. Great sport.

Anyone with kids that play a lot knows you hardly have time to keep up with that let alone a silly thread you started.

My son is out of season as far as lacrosse goes, though he will have a few fall tourneys. Had an okay summer schedule, finishing things out with a couple of goals at Pepper playing for Wilcox.

Now he has begun his sophomore season of JV volleyball. Starting setter, and team captain.

My daughter enters her senior season of varsity volleyball. Going for the 3-peat of section iii champions. Her knee is not cooperating however as she tweaked it playing off season beach volleyball. Ugh. Looks like she will be sitting out this first week of games and a tourney. We shall see. As you can see, they are all business. Lol

My oldest boy as a rising 8th grader made the NJ East All State Lacrosse Tournament team. 100 kids at his team’s tryout. They won it too.

And he hasn’t picked up a stick since, total focus on football. I might’ve just thrown away a Thousand plus on his club team, because I can’t see him making more than 5 fall practices and if his football team goes deep in the playoffs, there goes the fall tournaments. When he was younger I would double dip him on a lax practice/tourney and a football game, but not now. He will be ready for the spring as usual.

It’s tough, parents are crazy. The whole team was reclasified redshirts who just play lax. Arrogant tools too. I had fun telling them how little my boy plays.

My daughter, who didn’t make her 7th grade volleyball team two years ago, not only made the 9th grade high school team but she was the MVP of the game tonight (in her biased dad’s opinion) and had 7 aces.
NOBODY NOBODY!

deep cut reference to a volleyball movie that was on heavy rotation during early 90's HBO.

A 90's movie about volleyball. I want to watch that. What was it called?

Time to play catch up and fill everyone in on stuff they don't care about!

My son is in his final week of JV volleyball, and has been called up to Varsity for sectionals. They will face CNS Monday, and that will be a tall task, however we did upset them once this season so we shall see.

He plays for Coach Wilcox this Sunday at the Cornfield Classic in Tully in lacrosse, and for once the weather looks to not include rain, wind, snow, sleet etc. Thank the maker.

My daughter finally got her knee cleared deep into the season, so she has seen little to no time since. BUT, senior night was a different story. Six seniors played the entire game vs Henninger. No subs, no Libero. She played defense, hit, and set. It was glorious. She crushed it, as did all six of them, and we destroyed Henninger even with these girls playing out of position. Which only solidifies my sorrow for the girls on the other side for the city school. They are not good, and do not have the support to get better. It's not fun to watch.
They earned a spot in the sectional championship game vs the winner of CNS/Liverpool. This is our opportunity at a third straight section III title, with the previous 2 being against Liverpool. I'm banking on it being them again. "DRAIN THE 'POOL"

The boys lost in 3 to CNS as expected. Then lax workouts started this week. Never stops.

The girls indeed ended up playing Liverpool for the third straight year in the finals, and 3-peated as section III champs. And after falling in the first two sets, they reverse swept Liverpool to take the match 3-2. On to regionals.

Today was that regional match vs Shen. Same as last year. They are a great team, and have a senior who is going to UVA and she is nothing shy of a beast. Too much for our girls today, as we fell in 3.

Great season, and our only loss of the year. My daughter was a LITTLE sad, but also really happy to be done with it.

My niece is only a a junior so we get to do this again next year as spectators, with no stress!
