the crane the crane

are they using the down time to take Sylar apart or will it go back up for short time with a few last tasks to finish?

Sala update.

Stadium Roof Project: The crown truss installation is progressing as the contractor works toward the south side of the building after recently installing the “keystone” on the north side. The crane adjacent to the Physics Building and Steele Hall has completed work in that location and is currently being relocated to the southeast corner of the Dome. During this crane relocation there will be restricted parking at times in the Quad Lot due to truck traffic. The Forestry Drive closure is underway, as the crane re-assembly will take place soon on Forestry Drive. The last event in the Dome will be the women’s basketball game on this Sunday, March 1. After this event, the building will be turned over to the project team and will be occupied 24 hours a day as a construction site in preparation for deflation and removal of the existing roof in mid- to late March. The construction areas around the Dome remain extremely busy. If you are driving or walking on campus in areas adjacent to the construction, please pay careful attention to flaggers and construction workers. Pedestrians traveling from Sadler Hall and Lawrinson Hall should observe and follow pedestrian signage. For additional information regarding the pedestrian route, visit the Site Impact/Road Closures webpage. Please also note the Stadium is closed to walkers due to construction activities around the building.

Great to read Sala's report posted by bees. Can't wait to see that crane go up on Forestry. Here is the daily temp forecast by Accuweather

A good portion of one of the cranes is down the hill in a dozen or so pieces near Upstate's biotech building on the former Kennedy Square site right now. Not sure what that's about.

Maybe they need to stash the upper parts until they can move the base. How shy are they with storage space?

It is pretty tight up there. Factor in the unknown of weather (thaw/heavy rain) if you store temporarily in a grassy field.

Yes, it's exactly this - they're short on space and couldn't fit everything while accommodating game traffic/gate access.

They also appear to have removed all the non-basketball banners from the interior of the building (1959 national champions banner, all the football and lax retired jerseys, etc., from the east end zone) and stashed them in three tractor trailers on Irving. They've removed most of the stuff in the memorabilia cases in the concourse near the Ernie Davis Room (though I hope they put them someplace safer than a tractor trailer). And I assume all the hoops decorations, including the new Wallace jersey, will get the same treatment on Monday.

It also looked like some weatherproofing was done where the last row of the upper deck meets the wall, but I didn't bother to climb up there and check.

ok. so do we start seeing some accelerated pacing starting to tomorrow?
For the next week+ it’ll be all on Walt. Would love to see 2+ girders added to the West side this week.

The staff is back on site. Whitey is moving, hopefully Walt will be awoken soon.

While viewing the map on the west end before the Clemson game, I was told by someone in the know that they'll have 10 days to remove all the seats (for fear of a rogue support cable coming down and damaging them?). Will that affect the outside schedule?

They may be referring to the cables going from truss to truss over the existing roof.

Seems odd that they would waste the time and effort to remove aluminum benches. If something happens, you remove and replace the damaged sections as needed.

Not exactly a shelf item.
