the crane the crane

Walt may be getting stapped up with spiral after unloading girder from truck.
upon closer review, maybe not.

It's 1:03 folks and Walt has just finished unloading another girder from the ORANGE RIG. The crane way up on Forestry is really coming together. But it's still lunchtime and some of the crew is eating which they richly deserve to do. Let's see how much they can accomplish this afternoon. There is as storange alluded to a very long spiral resting just outside the ties in front of Walt - maybe we get collars on it in preparation for placement.

The impression of the crown truss really depends on the viewing angle. Coming up 81 it looks imposing, almost intimidating. Driving up Salina Street south of the city looking north... it looks much flatter... a big meh.

it just seems like there is no space for walt to turn once that back stay is in place on the rest of the west wall.

I've always liked that view when coming around the corner northbound. It could really be something when the truss is all done and lit up.

There should be a big sign right on that bend welcoming you to Syracuse. Not sure why that's never been done.

It'd have to be a billboard off the highway ROW, because I don't think non-transportation signs are allowed. Didn't Cuomo go through some haggling over the the tourism signs NY put up on the interstates?

And more components arriving for the crane on Forestry @ 1:41 P.M.

Speedy Delivery from Montreal - looks like a truckload of spirals - another ORANGE tractor delivering the load.
The trailer that carried the girder has to make way for the new spirals. Lots going on right now. But first the additional axle is going to have to be loaded onto the trailer by the white crane. Done at 1:58 P.M.

They need to lose the parking across the street from the unloading zone...sometimes way too tight for the larger vehicles that use the street..like now

Was thinking the same thing, A lot of congestion on Irving.

Good to see the new girder arrive. There’s another truck behind this one. You can only see the cab... wonder what it’s delivering?

I think some people have said it's loaded with spirals...

2:10 P.M. - time for the white crane to offload the new spirals get them stored in the yard, then the crew gets them collared and Walt begins putting them up on the ring on the West Wall to support new girders.

Don't they need to add some backstays before more spirals can go up?

The first spiral coming off is very large in diameter - they are going to put them between the inner and outer fence on Irving like others,

Think it had to do with the fonts and images used. I was thinking at least a sign similar to what's on the Thruway heading into Buffalo.

It's hard to tell because of Walt's boom whether the existing backstay can handle another spiral(s) but they have as you can see, (don't know what you call them), fixtures the widest angle points of the triangle that is the base of the back stay installed on the West Wall and on the Dome down Forestry. They will need to weld steel together to create backstays unless they have some in storage and if so all of them are the same dimensions so they do not have to create new stays. However, they need to get more up to continue to make progress with spirals and girders to continue to complete the crown truss.

You can see up Forestry that they, with another white crane a twin of the one in Walt's yard, are continuing to add to the lattice boom of the other large crane. They are almost ready to attach a substantial extension.
