The Dome was empty...again. Where are the fans?

We see these type of losses under JB towards the end. I remember a Saturday in December loss to Old Dominion in those later years.

I had yesterday's game targeted to take my kids, however I held off on purchasing since my kids are challenging and then my 8 year olds bball schedule changed to Saturday so that took care of that.

One of the problems we have is a BOT that has no clue on the landscape of college athletics until it will be too late.

Three years is reasonable for Red. It's obvious it won't work and the fans have spoken. Need someone that can inspire the fanbase again.

It's wild to me that people here believe the final outcome would be different if there was 35,000 fans instead of only 12,000.

in a 1 point game largely decided by bad refs and a lack of energy, yeah, I would believe that the extra fans would change something.

I know this is Syracuse and no one is ever allowed to be happy, but if you think 23,000 more people isn't at least a 1 point swing I don't know what to say.

for me it comes down to the cost and the inconvenience. i don't feel lately i get back what i spend. last 10 years or so i've only been to the lax games. i do find enjoyment and value in those games. hoops and football not so much. rather watch or listen to those games at home. and watching fans regularly file out of the empty venue early is never a good look.

We have definitely lost our identify. I know some people don’t want to hear it, but that started when we left the Big East. I know we made the move we had to make, but the result and consequence was part of what we are seeing.

A follow up. The parking lots are barely half full and it still takes forever to get out. God forbid if they were all full.

I park at Manley/Colvin.

10 minute walk from the Dome to the shuttle stand.
Maybe a 10 minute bus ride.
10 minute drive home w/ a stop at my brother's house along the way.

Games against the random sisters of the poor always had poor attendance. It was the sellouts vs the blueblood Dukes and UNC’s, as well as the historic rivalries with GTowns, and UCONN’s that jacked the average attendance up.

Unfortunately we are more random sister of the poor than blueblood these days. I fear that the average fan believes that SU basketball’s best days are behind us. It’s going to take a lot more than one upset victory against Tennessee to change that.

Come on, man. Red has glaring, obvious competency issues. He does not seem capable of running a set. I literally cannot believe that he, of all people, could not coach his players to break down a zone.

I understand that we do not have SEC money or the resources that attract high-major talent, but the idea that any high-level player would want to come here knowing they will not be prepared for the NBA and will not win consistently is astonishing.

There is no brand that could survive this.

Well its the brainless University people that’ll point a finger at the fans before their own decisions, or the decisions of those they’ve advocated for.

The Cowboys get 100,000 fans and still are one of the worst run franchises in sports.

Seriously, with the cost of tickets, $35 parking, very expensive food and drinks - why would the average fan pick this game to go too.
Same with Mercyhurst and Stone Hill.
If the attendance doesn’t improve during the ACC season, then I will acknowledge we have a serious fan problem.

It is very tough to watch but there were exciting moments as well. Like our ten point comeback. But what is really clear is that we are not going to win games unless we make free throws. Has anyone ever asked Red during press conferences how he is helping players improve on free throws?

I hear you but we still had a shot for the season goal this year (NCAA tournament) going into this game and we knew Hofstra was sneaky good and this was probably going to be a tight game and nobody showed.

We win this game and we would be looking at nice win streak and right in the conversation for NCAA.

I guess what I'm getting at is that fan base has totally made up their mind on Red and it's all over. Done.

I agree Hofstra not a name brand but these games still used to draw close to 20k. Throw in the significance to the season and the favorable time slot and just surprised didn't draw better. Casual fans not going I get it, but where are the die hards? The #'s say Red' lost them
