A Jeweler sued Lance Thomas for nearly $100k worth of jewelry that Thomas got a line of credit for while at Duke. Both refused to cooperate so the NCAA cleared them because they had no evidence.

no evidence besides the 100k loan he got with no taxable income?

North Carolina goes free with false grades, now duke gets off on 100,000 dollars worth of jewelry. Where did he get the 30,000 dollar down payment? That's why the rest of the ACC doesn't like Swofford, because it seems the Carolina boys always get off with no harm.

Lance Thomas is somewhere right now drinking a beer with Corey Maggette and laughing his a$$ off.

No kidding. These type of outcomes demonstrate why the NCAA is a joke. When there is blatant rule breaking [Auburn / Cam Newton, this example with $100K of merchandise, etc.] and the NCAA gives programs a pass, it sends the wrong enforcement message.

Meanwhile, they are turning over every rock around our program searching for something to slap us on the wrist about.

If you do the crime, you deserve whatever penalty you get. But for god's sake, NCAA--penalize the rule breakers, whether they are blue chip programs or not.

The travesty is that they are quick to suspend some poor kid for accepting a jacket or plane ticket, but a college kid's $100,000 deal warrants nothing more than a couple of cursory questions.
